A Kenyan presence at the International Criminal Court (ICC) would strengthen our voice in global justice, reinforce confidence in our institutions and affirm Kenya’s contribution to international law and human rights. At State House, Nairobi, during the launch of Justice Njoki Ndung’u’s candidature for Judge of the ICC, hosted by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, I noted that this is not just an individual campaign, but a national undertaking that reflects Kenya’s commitment to justice, constitutionalism and principled global leadership. I commend President Ruto for his steadfast support in advancing this important national agenda and reaffirm that Kenya is presenting one of its finest legal minds to the international stage. Justice Ndung’u’s candidature represents an important opportunity to further position Kenya as a credible and respected voice within the global justice system.

Thank you H.E. President William Ruto and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the beautiful launch of my friend Hon. Justice Njoki Ndung’u’s candidature for the ICC. Proud of this brilliant Kenyan jurist. Wishing her success! 🇰🇪
William Samoei Ruto, PhD@WilliamsRuto

Justice Njoki Ndung’u is one of Kenya’s finest and distinguished jurists. Her extensive tour of duty at our Parliament, the Pan-African Parliament and the United Nations places her at the intersection of criminal justice, human rights and international law.

InShaAllah, Justice Njoki Ndungu will become the second Kenyan to serve on the ICC bench after Judge Joyce Aluoch. A distinguished jurist, Justice Njoki is the principal architect of the Sexual Offences Act and has played a defining role in shaping Kenya’s jurisprudence.

Yesterday morning, I had the pleasant surprise of bumping into H.E. Governor Issa Timamy at Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) - no bodyguards, no aides, no entourage… just him quietly coming in for his regular lab check-up. He was so unassuming that my Gen Z team, who were attending to him at our central referral Lab in Real Towers, Upper Hill, didn’t even realize there was a VVIP in the building until I personally greeted him and took him aside. Whilst I was showing him later how to access his results through the DKL App, I was humbled to learn that he has actually visited DKL quietly several times before whenever he is in Nairobi since we opened 1½ years ago - having been recommended to us by his own physicians. Yet not once has he ever called me, let alone requested special handling or sought VVIP treatment. It means most likely my staff all along didn’t even realize who he was whenever he visited @DKLDrKalebiLabs before. What struck me even more was that after we finished serving him and giving him a quick tour of our ultramodern lab facility, he politely refused to have his driver pull up to the entrance and instead walked himself to his official car (GVN 005), to the shock of our security doorman who is used to opening car doors for VIPs, let alone VVIPs 😊 In today’s world, such humility is very rare! 🫡 A second-term Governor who freely mingles with ordinary wananchi without fanfare, seeking special treatment, intimidation or excess security - because, in his own words, he has nothing to fear or hide 👊🏾 Rare breed indeed! 🙌🏾 It was truly an honour serving Your Excellency. Asante sana Gavana! Allah Baārik 🙏🏾

Under the first NCIC, 3 of my colleagues in Parliament were charged with hate speech. It was taken so seriously that one of the accused suffered a heart attack when released on bond. Once the cases were lost fear of hate speech died. NCIC must find a way to deal with this menace

Save for his twisted accent, PS Korir is faulted as a “tactless” diplomat that never was! ✅Ambassadors and senior officials accuse @ForeignOfficeKE PS Korir Sing’oei of arrogance, dismissiveness, and dragging Kenya’s diplomacy to an unprecedented low ✅ Grievances boiled over at the 19th Ambassadors’ Conference in Nairobi last month — a rare public airing of internal ministry tensions ✅ Kenya’s envoy to Botswana Sabdiyo Dido Basuna broke down in tears after Sing’oei publicly questioned the value her station adds to Kenya’s foreign policy — language witnesses described as humiliating and disproportionate ✅ Sources say Sing’oei spoke harshly to her in front of witnesses; she declined to discuss the matter further ✅ Multiple ambassadors describe a culture of intimidation and humiliation at headquarters — envoys left walking on eggshells ✅ Missions complain of delayed funding, deteriorating working conditions, and calls going unanswered for days and weeks without clear direction ✅ On April 1, Sing’oei disclosed a phone call with a UAE official, describing what he termed as IRGC’s “unjustified attacks” on GCC critical infrastructure — language that alarmed diplomats ✅ Iran’s Embassy in Nairobi fired back sharply, accusing the PS of mis-characterising the conflict and missing “important chapters of international law” ✅ Diplomats warn the statement could make Kenyan vessels a target in the Strait of Hormuz — a waterway critical to Kenya’s trade and energy supply ✅ February 2025: forced into a public apology after sharing a doctored CNN-logo video falsely praising Kenya’s peace efforts in Sudan ✅ Later courted backlash for comparing Kenyan police unfavourably to Dutch police — wading into domestic policing debate inappropriately ✅ Lawyer Fred Limo delivers the sharpest verdict: “In diplomacy, tone is substance. A tweet can be read as policy. A phrase like ‘unjustified attacks’ can tilt perceptions of neutrality in ways that no amount of subsequent clarification can fully undo” ✅ Critics say Sing’oei is eroding Kenya’s traditionally cautious, measured, non-aligned diplomatic posture built over decades ✅ Sing’oei’s Insists Kenya remains non-aligned and prioritises national interests including energy, security, and safety of citizens ✅ Describes his team as “professional, conscientious, measured, proactive and protective ✅ Kenya’s foreign ministry is in internal turmoil — envoys demoralised, missions underfunded, and a PS whose combative social media style is creating geopolitical risks Kenya cannot afford

Africa on Two Wheels@AbdiZeila·
The hand of God. I am riding on Church Road, just near ZNS HQs, and I have just taken the slip road that exits into Addis Ababa Drive, and stopped at the robots. Two seconds after stopping I heard an ear shattering crack. I thought it was an explosion. It was a large tree branch that fell, intact, from a very tall tree. Two metres behind me. If I was late by two seconds I would have been either dead or badly injured.
