It appears that most fans are opposed to the Mets releasing #8 (to call up Nick Morabito) after having not issued it for 25 years. There’s been a debate over whether Gary Carter’s number should be retired, but to release it this 40th anniversary season of 1986 just seems wrong.
@metsbatflip1 I don’t think we will see Tong until he can iron out his pitch development. Realistically they could call him up but all he throws is a 4 seam and a change up so after 3-4 innings he is vulnerable to guys sitting on him.
The Mets outfield for the time being COULD look like this:
Nick Morabito — LF
AJ Ewing — CF
Carson Benge — RF
Juan Soto — DH
Gives Soto even more time to heal from his injury while only putting a bat in his hands.
@Metsfan_1990@DanBartels2 Morabito is on the 40 man and Winker would be a better choice than all 3 and you still have Melendez. I get bodies but with the exception of Pham none of them should have seen the field.
@NYNJHarper Baty is benefiting from having consistent play time and it shows. He is having some of the most productive at bats on the team. He chews up a lot of pitches and it usually leads to a walk or base hit.
Baty getting a lot of love for force-out play in the 11th, and rightly so, but earlier Vientos made a key play at 1B as well, nailing runner at plate w/quick throw. Impressed with how much Vientos has improved defensively. Started that great DP Sunday. Throws are strong./true.
@The_RadMan@Masterflip_ You’re kidding me right? There’s absolutely 0 circumstances where stealing in that situation shouldn’t happen. Unreliable batter, proven SB guy on 1st, 1 out. Everything 100% points to stealing in that situation.
