5) Drugs with longer monopolies get lower prices 5 of these 10 drugs were approved >16 years ago Enbrel is a great example. Approved in 1998 (!), but a "patent thicket" has staved off competition. Medicare is likely to negotiate a big discount here.

4) Comparative effectiveness will impact price negotiations In diabetes, likely negotiated meds include one (Jardiance) that helps patients live longer and another (Januvia) that doesn't Will this be rewarded with a higher price? If so, will it be more expensive for patients?
