😊ACT OF KINDNESS: An elderly couple in Alcona County was happy to see our one of our EMHSD District Coordinators today who walked 1/4 mile down a frozen road to deliver food and water. The couple has been unable to leave their home due to several large trees in their driveway following this week's intense winter storm. The couple is doing great and was very appreciative. Our District Coordinator even refilled their generator with gas! Alcona County Emergency Manager Scott Rice is regularly checking in with residents all throughout the winter storm and asked we check on these homeowners. Please don't forget to reach out to your neighbors. Together, we will get through this. @MichStatePolice | #ActsOfKindness | #diasterrecovery | #makingadifference | #northernmichigan | #winterstorm | #miwx

To everyone holding steady through extended outages — thank you. The patience, resilience and care neighbors are showing one another hasn’t gone unnoticed. Crews remain in the field around the clock, working through difficult conditions to safely restore power. They won't stop until every home and business is back online. 💙

Many hours of work go into planning and conducting preliminary damage assessments after disasters in Michigan. Our team has been working side-by-side with FEMA to coordinate these efforts following the tornadoes earlier this month in Southwest Michigan. These assessments help determine whether Governor Whitmer will request a federal disaster declaration that could lead to FEMA disaster assistance for home owners. @MichStatePolice | #EmergencyManagement | #FEMA | #DisasterResponse | #tornadorecovery

With all the snow we just got, check around your home to ensure appliance vents and gas meters are clear, and gently remove any snow buildup. Blocked vents can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, furnace issues, or fire hazards. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors.

Being without power is frustrating and disruptive, and we know how hard that can be. Crews from Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio are standing with northern Michigan, restoring power to 25,000 homes overnight and continuing the work until every customer has the power they need. Thanks for your patience — and count on us to keep showing up. 💙⚡

Today our team, FEMA, and the small business administration surveyed tornado damage from earlier this month in Southwest Michigan. Data collected will then be sent to the Governors Office to determine whether or not federal aid will be requested. @MichStatePolice | #michigantornado | #tornadorecovery | #MIWX

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared March 15 – March 21 as #SevereWeatherAwarenessWeek in Michigan. With winter weather currently impacting Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, it's a good reminder that severe weather in Michigan can include a range of conditions from severe thunderstorms and tornadoes to extreme snow and ice… sometimes, even on the same day! ⛈️🌪️❄️🥶 Review your emergency plan (for any season), refresh your kit, and stay informed. Look for more tips in the comment section! @MichStatePolice | #winterweather | #beprepared | #mitornadodrill | #MIREADY

😲 WHAT A CLOSE CALL! Dashcam video from an @MichStatePolice trooper in Alpena County captured a massive tree falling onto the roadway just feet from the patrol vehicle this morning. High winds can bring down snow and ice-covered trees and power lines without warning, so use extra caution. Stay home and stay safe if you don’t have to travel. #miwx | #HighWindWarning | #staysafe | #winterweather | #michiganweather
