@edwinhayward Why is Rishi Sunak an MP has puzzled me for a while. He is an international banker. His knowledge of UK society is limited. He has an American green card. He is excited by Freeports/Charter cities. A form of modern day feudalism.

I get the impression he wants to be PM because it's the one thing money (sort of) can't buy. Only one person on the Sunday Times Rich List will be PM too. A big nose-thumb at his fellow listees.

The one good thing about Sunak's obscene level of wealth is that he's almost certainly too rich to fall prey to the sort of bribes that are the bread and butter of senior Tories. Certainly, there's no reason to expect him to prostitute himself to Tory donors like Johnson has.

@LordAshcroft There isn't anyone suitable let alone lead the country and be PM. Brexit has destroyed/is destroying the Conservative Party. Apart from Tom the candidates for leadership are appalling in their own unique ways. Tom seems out of his depth and doesn't adhere to the alt-right BS.

Conservative Party leadership elections over the years have rarely been best of choices but least worst alternatives. But surely MP’s should be focussing on who would give the best chance to win the next General Election. That appears to have been forgotten...

A couple of steps towards cleaning up Parliament... a) close all the bars (alcohol can still be purchased with meals in the restaurants, but should be itemised separately and can't be claimed on expenses - pay for your own ******* drinks!) b) random drug testing and drug sweeps

@JamesMelville No. Govt should set price of fuel and tax oil companies excess profits. The rest of your proposals are tinkering. You haven't even touched energy prices. A mature relationship with the EU aligning with the single market would be more beneficial to businesses and the economy.

The cost of living crisis is partially caused by the UK government fleecing the taxpayer and small businesses. The government should: ▪️Scrap the National Insurance rise ▪️Cut income tax ▪️Cut fuel duty ▪️Cut VAT ▪️Reduce corporation tax ▪️Slash business rates
