Thank you to Greeks and Greece. Thank you for finally awakening the Turks and putting an end to the old ‘we’re neighbours, friends, brothers, the same people’ narrative that is now gone for good.
Thank you for awakening the sense of nationalism inside Turks that had been suppressed for decades under the idea that we were all peacefully aligned with Greece. I’ve never seen this many posts of this kind before, and I’ve been on X/Twitter for over a decade.
Please keep up the good work , hopefully more Turks start to finally see who our enemies are.

Nolan’s The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026. The film is based on Homer’s epic and stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as Athena, and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy. This casting is exactly why the Black Athena question becomes interesting. Nolan has not publicly said that the film is inspired by Martin Bernal’s Black Athena, but he is clearly not presenting Homer’s world through the old, purely white-European cinematic template. Black Athena challenged the modern image of ancient Greece as an isolated white European civilization and argued for deeper Egyptian, Phoenician, North African, and Eastern Mediterranean influences on the Greek world. So when Nolan casts Black actresses as major figures in a Greek mythological epic, especially Athena and Helen, it is fair to ask whether the film is visually participating in the same broader debate: is ancient Greece being reimagined away from the old Eurocentric screen image?

It is remarkable how some Turks find it completely unnatural that the Greek islands-inhabited by Greeks for over 3,000 years-belong to Greece, simply because they lie close to the Turkish coast.
At the same time, they find it perfectly natural that all of Eastern Thrace, a region geographically part of Europe, physically separated from Asia, and a natural extension of the Greek mainland, belongs to Turkey.
Geography and sovereignty are only complicated when the territories in question are Greek; when they are Turkish, no explanation is ever required.
The real shock awaits when they discover that much of what is now Turkey was home to Greek civilisations and Greek-speaking populations for thousands of years before Turks invaded and occupied Anatolia.

Some Turkish citizens have asked me how they can start learning about their true ethnic heritage before the Turkic-Islamic colonization of Anatolia.
Here are a few quick suggestions:
Reading actual historical sources is important. It is also important to talk with the elderly about the history of their ancestors (keep an open mind and do so without intimidating them). Researching the true history of your homeland, town and even village (particularly the history of Islamization) is exceedingly important. Doing a DNA test is undoubtedly important.

I’ve been seeing some public debates regarding the subject of what some call “crypto Greeks” in Turkey. “Crypto” means hidden or secret. This term doesn’t define the vast majority of people in Turkey who have Greek ancestry or DNA. The correct term should be “Islamized Greeks” as the vast majority of us in Turkey, whose Greek ancestors were forcibly Islamized, have no knowledge of our true history. So, these people are not “crypto Greeks” - they are descendants of forcibly Islamized Greeks. Using the correct term matters. Also, please avoid talking about us and the predicament we are in after treating us with utter disrespect. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Ήταν σενάριο Ελληνικής ταινίας που τα 60ς, η Βουγιουκλάκη η πλούσια κόρη, ο Παπαμιχαήλ ο φτωχος γαμπρός που εν τους αφηνναν οι γονιοί της να παντρευτούν, τζαι κάθε 20 λεπτά μουσική τζαι εχωρεφκαν...
