Pre-order is a psychological trap here. EA wants to drain players' leftover currency. See... If you finished the current season, you’re sitting on a surplus of coins earned from the Pass. Normally you'd hoard these to unlock the next season for free. But if they convince you to pre-order the Pass right now, your balance instantly drops to zero. So your wallet will be completely empty when the mid-season store bundles drop. And instead of spending your hoarded coins, you are now forced to swipe your credit card. If you spent your saved coins on a store bundle first, you might just skip the next Pass entirely. But pre-ordering guarantees the Pass sale, locks it in as a done deal. This way EA makes sure the next purchase hits your real bank account.

The removal of Call of Duty from day and date on Game Pass Ultimate is a win for subs who didn't want COD anyway. But, be aware, this opens the door for other first party Xbox games to not hit Ultimate day and date.
