He has openly admitted not enjoying Ligue 1 football as much as the Premier League, leading Nice fans to feel the club became an afterthought. Selling Nice would free up his time, resources, and attention to concentrate fully on turning around United. Nice’s difficult 2025/26 season — marked by a coaching change, poor results, and a relegation/promotion playoff against Saint-Étienne — combined with Ligue 1’s broadcast revenue woes, has complicated the sale process. The club was listed for sale in 2025 at €200-250m but saw the price cut amid limited interest. Potential buyers (including a US group) are more serious now, yet completing a deal at a decent valuation is widely seen as dependent on Nice staying in the top flight.
