Rod’s quotes here basically tell the story of what’s going on. The guys aren’t playing 100% locked in and hungry. I don’t think anyone will say they are tired or sandbagging at this stage but, I just don’t think you can get too upset that with the cushion they have and almost nothing to play for that the guys not giving 110% against Montreal in late March is a perfect measuring stick for playoff success.

@MichaelTMangan For sure, team creates much more with Ghost on the ice at 5v5. Goal differential likely improves tremendously with him healthy.

The addition of Nikolaj Ehlers has been a huge part of it, he's on pace for 26 PP pts himself and has helped fill the massive void left on the top unit in the aftermath of the Martin Necas trade last year. Dare I say, the powerplay has been so potent of late (now top-ten in the league) that it is masking some legitimate concerns at 5v5 for the club (outscored 7-13 in their last 5 games, and 21-24 in their last 10). It is imperative that Carolina's star players can maintain this high level of play with the man advantage. Shoutout to Jordan Staal as well, who has become a significant part of the PP1 himself as a net-front presence.

@KylewhiteNew @MatthewAguilar5 Holmes may not have been done after this fight but he wasn’t even close to the same fighter he was during his prime. Sure, a dominant effort by Tyson but the Holmes of the late 70s/early 80s would have fared far better and quite possibly could have won.
