My personal expectation is that token prices will fall and that the most important news here is that we now have methods to turn test-time compute into improved performance up to a very large scale. (11/n)

Xiangpeng Hao strikes again: Turns out you can both 1. Implement 🇩🇪 strings in Rust 2. They actually improve end to end performance in @ApacheDataFusio. It takes a lot more than a straightforward naive implementation to do so: influxdata.com/blog/faster-qu…

After a huge amount of work from many contributors (including @InfluxDB 's intern Xiangpeng) stoked to announce that arrow-rs `52.2.0` supports StringView arrays from Arrow. #issuecomment-2261464353" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/apache/arrow-r…. i mean, you can also do this in Rust, and it’s arguably a lot easier! at @oxidecomputer, we’ve written an embedded OS in Rust that also avoids the use of dynamic allocation: #_pragmatism" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">hubris.oxide.computer/reference/#_pr

While talking to an embedding systems engineer on C being an unsafe language, he mentioned that the way they avoid memory leaks is by simply not using malloc/alloc, which means their code to entirely deterministic at compile time. A reason why C cannot be replaced in embedded sys

I'm preparing some teaching material on pyo3. I had an *operational* understanding of it, but by digging deeper I'm really coming to appreciate the amount of care and polish that went into it. Hat off to @davidhewittdev! He has been an amazing sheperd.

Experimenting with bigger open-source robot arm from @therobotstudio. The motors brand is different, but Enzo and @HaixuanT just made it work in minutes 😁

Why is a holistic approach required above and beyond secure boot or a TPM? We're not merely building a better server, we're standing up a cloud computer that's ready for developers to provision via API on day one, and that requires attesting to every layer of the software stack.

Yes we installed an Orbitron fusion microreactor (mockup) on a Delorian today and it looks awesome. Come visit us at the SF Deep Tech week bazaar / launch party tomorrow on the USS Hornet.
