Ibis is on the front page of Hacker News for dropping its support for the pandas backend. ibis-project.org/posts/farewell… Key reasons: 1. Pandas is painfully slow. 2. Pandas has a lot of specialized code that makes it less compatible with other data systems. 3. Feature parity: everything you can do in pandas can be done much faster and easier in other backends, such as DuckDB.
