🚨 Epic just dropped HUGE updates on First Person in Fortnite Creative! 🚨 The stream covered everything from development history to future plans, plus some fun behind-the-scenes stories. Here’s EVERYTHING you need to know: 🛠️ The Journey to First Person Mode • The idea came from community workarounds like the "helicopter pad hack," where players forced FP views using oversized helipads. Epic saw the demand and started work on an official solution. • The "Anti-Jank Team" was formed in early 2022 to clean up messy mechanics, and FP was one of their first targets. • The project was shelved TWICE—first due to lack of resources, then again because of IARC rating concerns. • Out of nowhere, Epic announced FP at GDC 2023 without telling the devs working on it 🤯—forcing them to bring it back fast! 🎮 Tech Challenges & Innovations • FP in Fortnite is WAY harder than in most games. Why? Fortnite has tons of skins, each with different proportions, gear, and animations. • Traditional FPS games use separate models for arms & bodies, but Fortnite renders your actual character in FP. This meant rebuilding animation tech to prevent clipping (ex: Peely’s massive head). • Since Unreal Engine doesn’t support separate render passes, Epic developed custom tricks like "ABHands" scaling to stop weapons & arms from clipping through walls. • Gun animations are still being worked on—many older weapons need full reworks before they look good in FP. 🔫 Gameplay Updates & Ballistic Mode • Ballistic Mode helped drive FP development, refining gunplay to feel more tactical & immersive. • Weapons in FP are being overhauled—recoil patterns replace bullet spread, movement affects accuracy more, and player acceleration has been tweaked for better peeking. • Not all guns have proper FP animations yet, so some just drop off-screen when reloading (they’re working on it). 🚀 Future Plans & What’s Coming • Pickaxes are planned for First Person! • The goal is to support ALL Fortnite gameplay in FP, letting creators build full FP BR experiences (this doesn’t mean FP is coming to BR). • Epic is actively gathering feedback—if you want features like reduced bullet spread in FP, now’s the time to ask! • They hinted at VR-like possibilities using this system 👀 (not confirmed, but theoretically possible). This is just the beginning for First Person in Fortnite. The devs are all-in on expanding it, but they need feedback to make it better. What’s your take on FP mode so far?
