Our democracy only functions when we all vote. But right now, our voting rights are under attack. Efforts are underway to disenfranchise millions of Americans — making voting more difficult or near-impossible for rural voters, women, communities of color, seniors, people with disabilities, young people, and others. If protecting our democracy resonates with you, please make a donation of any amount to power our democracy work. Your gift directly protects the freedom to vote, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every voice counts — now and for generations to come. michiganlcvedfund.org/issues/democra…

Severe ice storms devastated the community in northern Michigan last year, and these kinds of extreme weather events are becoming more and more frequent as a consequence of climate change. Members of the community gathered last night to urge state and federal leaders to do more to prepare for the impacts of climate change and to address its causes.

It’s been one year since the ice storms that damaged communities in Northern Michigan. Many are still repairing their homes and rebuilding their livelihoods — even as they prepare for more extreme weather storms that are only getting worse due to climate change. FEMA denied recovery, but Michigan voices won’t be silenced. Join us February 26 to make your voice heard and call on our elected leaders to fight for the community. mobilize.us/climateactionc…

Once again, the Trump administration has decided to force the outdated, polluting J.H. Campbell coal plant in West Michigan to remain open – a move that has cost working families in Michigan and throughout the Midwest $135 million since last May. This administration promised to lower energy costs, yet our bills are skyrocketing because profits for fossil fuel companies is the real priority of this administration — not lowering costs for Americans.

Did you know that Michigan is the only state in the country without a statewide septic code? Sounds pretty crappy if you ask us. When septic systems fail, they leach raw sewage into our lakes, rivers, and streams… threatening to pollute our drinking water and communities. Tell your lawmaker: enough with the crap! Vote YES on a statewide septic code: michiganlcv.org/actions/tell-y…

The Clean Water Act is once again under attack. If finalized, the rule change would limit our state’s ability to protect the Great Lakes from risky projects like Enbridge’s Line 5 tunnel – putting corporate profits ahead of our water, public health, and local control. Send the EPA a message: michiganlcv.org/actions/tell-t…

Lawmakers set the rules that utility companies must follow. When utility companies can sway lawmakers with financial contributions, they hold all the power. It's time to put people over profit and ban utilities from political giving. energyandpolicy.org/customers-savi…

Michigan is NOT a dumping ground for out-of-state toxic waste. Right now, our low fees and outdated policies make our state an attractive dumping ground for hazardous waste from across the country and Canada. New legislation introduced in Lansing is looking to change that. Tell your lawmaker to protect communities from hazardous waste and pass Senate Bills 246 & 247: michiganlcv.org/actions/tell-y…

Consumers is willing to put our rivers at risk and raise our rates by selling their 13 hydroelectric dams for pennies on the dollar to an out-of-state private equity company, all so they can wash their hands of responsibility for their equipment. We've seen what happens when dams are mismanaged in Michigan — massive destruction to aquatic life and wetlands that are still being addressed today. Tell the state: do NOT let Consumers sell these dams. michiganlcv.org/actions/stop-t…

The Attorney General is suing fossil fuel companies for 'cartel-like' tactics to kill competition from clean energy and EVs. Clean energy is better for our health and our wallets — and that threatens the fossil fuel industry's bottom line. When their profit margins are on the line, why wouldn't they cut down clean energy by any means necessary? bridgemi.com/michigan-envir…

When the stakes are this high, silence is not an option. As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, let's remember to fight for justice with the same tenacity, spirit, and grace as Dr. King.

While they're at it, they should rename it the "Profit Protection Agency" if they're going to prioritize corporate America over public health.

DTE now charging a credit/debit fee for bill pay just feels like a twist of the knife that's already wedged in customers' backs. Asking for ANOTHER rate increase wasn't enough, now they need their customers to cover the cost of doing business too? freep.com/story/news/loc…

DTE and Consumers Energy have once again asked state regulators to raise our energy rates — and this time they are asking for over $1 billion. If approved, that cost would be passed off directly to customers. Our bills are already too damn high! Enough is enough. Tell the state of Michigan: no more rate hikes! michiganlcv.org/actions/tell-t…
