@QLDCountryGP I don’t think hospitals will drop their mandatory criteria, so if this does go ahead will result in a lot of rejected referrals, which will lead to the allied health staff with responsibility to follow up and re assess and complete the referrals

Puts state hospitals on the receiving end in a tricky spot. They either have to hold allied health referrals to the same standard as GP (history, exam, investigations etc.) OR start accepting half-cooked referrals with masses of missing medical information. Fun times ahead.

@drgarethroberts @OrthopodReg I use biers blocks in our department it's less resource intensive, a sedation needs requires about 2 nurses to check drugs and then 1:1 airway, until they are fully recovered. In theory a biers block can be done in 30 minutes with 1 nurse. Then patient can leave immediately.

I’ve just registered that the BOA distal radius guidelines recommend a Bier’s block for ED manipulation, rather than procedural sedation… Wut?! Really?! #orthotwitter #handsurgery
