@AaronQuinn716 @LarryLewisSays What is representative of the avg American? Most universal access is soccer bball or baseball. But pro sports are getting dominated by euros in bball and smaller countries in baseball. Nobody in soccer. The avg American is playing video games.

@LarryLewisSays Correct, golf is a sport that requires access and it's not representative of the average American.

Look, I love Cam Young's game, and he seems like a good guy. Cam Young was born on 2nd. The son of a club pro in one of the best courses on the East Coast. He had every opportunity and resource available to him to go do this. Something that is available to about .5% of golfers on the planet.

The Catholic from New York. The quiet family man. The gold cross dangling over buttons that have never been touched. The MLB logo on the collar. The hat hair most men would chop a finger off for. The FJ Classics. Cameron Young is America. 🦅

@ProGolfCritic This is a ridiculous statement. All pro sports have a <1% chance. It’s all risk. It’s not a legitimate career field. Any NFL player avg career less than 3 years. If you don’t prepare for not making it it’s a fools errand. If you are lucky you make millions for playing a game

I hate to kill Bambi again, but pro golf (for the most part) is a debt producing business that most should not pursue. Most players that make it are well-financed or you’re indebted to someone rich that doesn’t mind the risk of losing money (see Tony Finau), but they also own a part of you. That is professional golf (particularly in 🇺🇸). It shouldn’t be this way, but it is. Meritocracy though. 🤷🏽‍♂️
Fredrik Lindblom@f_lindblom

Perfect example of the mini tour grind: I just finished 9th out of 168 players at the SoCal Open. Entry fee was $800. My pay check was $843 for a $43 profit… Take out expenses: -Airbnb: $500 -Food: $140 -Gas: $120 -Practice round: $150 -Yardage book: $35 Total: $945. Winnings ($43) - Expenses ($945)= -$902. Not the best week in the end 🤦🏼‍♂️ #Playbetter

@LindyTasteful Comparing current fatherhood to a unique time time in human history when there was peak industrialization and the creation of suburbs which required long commutes and working far from home probably is going to show that was also peak time dad wasn’t around the house.

I won't out the course but here is aspect of Country Clubs that I think needs to change. I had a player playing in the US Amateur. We hired the clubs best caddie to help us navigate the course in practice rounds. Guy was great. With our USGA credentials on first day at the club we asked him after the round if he would like to join us for lunch. He couldn't, he wasn't allowed in the clubhouse and we were able to go in and out freely. I hate this about higher end golf. Good caddies are assets and should be treated as such. Please retweet this if you agree.

Bryson DeChambeau has been the face of LIV Golf since joining in 2022. He regularly faces media and has been the most outspoken player in regard to how much he believes in the product. Now with reports that the PIF are cutting funding at the end of the 2026 season, how committed is he? Speaking to Flushing It Golf after LIV Golf Mexico City, Bryson said: “There's a lot of moving parts like in any business. It’s a startup, right? And so there's going to be times where we're squeezed and punched. This is one of those moments. But I'm going to do everything in my power to make it work and I really see the value in franchise golf. “And, you know, another reason why I'm doing this is not just for myself and the team aspect that I really believe in on the Crushers side. It's for Michael LaSasso. It's for Caleb Surratt. It's for Josele Ballester. It's for David Puig. “Jon, Phil, DJ, myself and the guys that have been here from the start, we’re okay. It’s now our responsibility to take care of these kids that believe in us. That’s why I'm really doing it. There's so much value to squeeze out of this whole thing for golf in general.” LIV Golf has been well funded since inception. Spending enormous amounts of money to sign players to upfront contracts, hosting lavish parties, having massive build outs and offering the largest event to event purses in the sport. But now the blank cheques are coming to an end, things clearly need to change. After reaching out directly to officials familiar with this aspect of the league, they insist they are focused on securing more income and funding, rather than cuts, and appear bullish with how that is trending. League sources say they’ve doubled revenue in 2025 from the previous year and have added more than $100 million already in the 2026 season through the first 5 events. 10 franchises will be profitable, as well as 4 events, and their ticket sales are up over 130% year over year. CEO Scott O’Neil said on last week’s broadcast, “we have never been in a better position.” If outside investment comes in, particularly to the franchises, as a byproduct it will help address the obvious issue of having one owner for all of the teams. The competitive aspect of the league has been flawed since the start, with more focus on building brands than the actual performances on the golf course. Results will suddenly matter more than they ever have. “I think that’s the best part of it,” Bryson said. “In my opinion, it’s not just some gimmick, it’s like, okay, we’re here to be competitive.” No matter how much the revenue increases, a sports league is not sustainable without star players. Bryson DeChambeau is the definition of that. With his current contract up at the end of this year, how are his negotiations going for a renewal? “We're still working on a potential contract. I haven’t given up on that and I think there will be a solution. But as of right now, my job is to help make the league work after this year. I just feel like I have a responsibility. I've put a lot of effort into it. So that’s what I’m going to do, we’re going to make this work.” When asked what happens if they can’t make it work, he doubled down: “As long as LIV is here, I would figure out a way for it to make sense.” There’s been much speculation about Bryson DeChambeau’s future over the last few months, and now you have it from the man himself. Pay attention to those who widely shared “reports” of Bryson looking for options outside of LIV Golf but don’t aggregate these quotes. They are not trustworthy news sources. @brysondech @Crushers_GC @livgolf_league

@ProGolfCritic @livgolf_league Liv stinks. Terrible product. No relegation. They would be better as an open tour with no contracts. Limited field events for $100 mil prize purse. They would save a lot of money and it would be interesting. DJ is checked out. Ak is not long term. It’s a dead tour for retirees.

@jemelehill The irony of jemelle being a multi millionaire, from a business she says should not be for profit is quite amazing. She wants billionaires to subsidize her millions to yell and accuse people who make thousands. Quite a business model

Respectfully Darren, you’ve lost the plot. Journalism was never supposed to be a for-profit business, but a public good. And when it shifted to a purely capitalistic model, it compromised the very integrity it was built on. Surely you’re not naive enough to understand why many see Jeff Bezos gutting the Post as politically motivated — especially in light of his relationship to this administration. He’s deeply compromised. Beyond that, there’s no question that journalism has to adapt to the times — but that adaptation doesn’t have to come at the expense of thoughtful coverage. You meet the audience where they are, but you also give them what they don’t know they need. They need storytelling, depth, context and insight. The audience still responds to those things and that will always be in demand.
Darren Rovell@darrenrovell

The Washington Post isn't cutting the sports section today because Jeffrey Bezos is a ghoul or hates journalism. It's because journalism that doesn't meet the public where they are and where they want to be can't make money. My take on the reality of the future of journalism linkedin.com/posts/darrenro…

@flushingitgolf @JonRahmOfficial @livgolf_league Between Rahm playing hard ball with the euro tour or his pushing his league to be a mirror image of the other two. When does he look in the mirror. You took money to go to a tour that said they want to be different. And now you complain about it being different Take your medicine

Jon Rahm gave some very interesting thoughts to the OWGR decision to award the LIV Golf League limited world ranking points: “Yeah, it's fantastic that we're getting points. It's fantastic that we're being recognised in a way. “With that said, I don't like how we're not being treated the same as every other tour. It seems like the rules that have been in place aren’t really applied to us, with only 10 of us getting points. It doesn't seem fair. There are small fields out there throughout the course of the year that get full points. Or full players get points, right? So, there’s work to be done. There's work to be done. “While it's good for some people. It could cost some players to actually lose world ranking points, instead of gain them. Because finishing in 11th is basically a missed cut and we're already adding to the devisor. “But I'm thankful that LIV golf got their foot on the door, and there's a possibility for us to walk in the room and be recognised as as a tour, as we should be.” @JonRahmOfficial @livgolf_league

For all of the media hype about Ludvig & Clanton they’ve underachieved the past year. McKibbin, Puig, Ballester have ascended partly bc of the structure & comfort LIV provides to foster growth. You don’t need the @PGATOUR to reach your potential in golf. That’s what scares them.
Joel Beall@JoelMBeall

After striking out on stars, LIV pivoted to young players under the premise that the PGA Tour is too hard to crack. But Blades Brown (like Ludvig Aberg and Luke Clanton) is proving meritocracy still reins, making those LIV recruits look like they opted out of real competition

@MattVincenziPGA The grass league is everything LIV wants to be. Fun engaging different. LIV can’t do that because the players are competing majors and that’s the point of the that professional golf. These guys play for the love of the game. Not money.
