Either way, you're aiming for parts of the boddy with little to no padding like head or hands

Usually if someone says going around it, they mean hitting a exposed point with a dagger or half sword. Tipping the night could make them more vulnerable to that, but strictly speaking isn't.

@Knightly_Hist IIRC wasn't the reason that plate armor became obsolete not that firearms inherently beat it and became more common (or at least not solely), but that it became too costly and were basically impossible to make at industrial levels? Kinda useless for a national army than a lord.

Weapons (specially melee weapons) aren't automatic counters against armor. Some work better than others, sure, but you still require skill, complementary equipment or specific circumstances for this to make a difference. Just "some dude" won't do, and the knight might as well be also using a halberd or an adjacent weapon.
