Beginning to see a signal emerge for severe weather somewhere in the southeastern US late next week. Even if it's a Southern Plains special, I'm happy to at least be included further east

@NWSQuadCities I had this tree ripped in half in Galena. Time was approximately 2:45pm when the supercell moved through the area. I also had several large branches down in my yard. The wind was very intense!

Yesterday's tornado outbreak led to 150 tornado warnings, at least 40 reported tornadoes, and so far, two EF-3 tornadoes confirmed in WIsconsin.

A LOT of damage surveys are being put into the DAT currently. The Number of confirmed tornadoes appears to be quickly rising.

This is an incredible video. Notice when the sub-vortex forms and rapidly intensifies, it briefly carves a small trench or depression in the ground. This was probably a weak sub-vortex, but still really interesting. I haven’t seen anything quite like this captured on video before.

Branches down and a tree ripped in half in my backyard in NW Illinois. All that wind and hail was very intense today, and I hope everyone affected by tornados recovers swiftly.

@PettusWX We have probably seen 50+ tornados today, the QLCS boosted that number up a lot.

148 total Tornado Warnings
Out of those...
41 of those were Observed Tornado Warnings and 4 of those were PDS Tornado Warnings

@MatthewCappucci True. What really made me feel this way is just the shear amount of warnings, feeling like something you would see on a high risk day. If i had to guess though, it would probably verify at a MDT, but we will have to wait and see.

@Midwest_wx I’d caution on committing to that until we have all the reports in and can run PPH (practically perfect hindcast). Tornado warnings ≠ tornadoes.
There’s also a spatial requirement too… raw number of tornadoes doesn’t necessarily correlate to a sufficient regional density.
