Can anyone recommend some biblically sound songs to sing at church on the day of Pentecost? @alisa_childers

You’re bored because you’re not doing side quests, man. Life is more than just working and then throwing yourself into bed doing nothing. Here are 50 side quests to complete:

"You know having children will soak up all your time and energy, right? You'll have time for little else." My dude. What else have I been given time and energy *for*? What else is so high-and-mighty important, that I cannot allow children to interfere with it? Please, tell me.

@annamlulis Kids tend to act out in a chaotic environment. I’m sure it was a long, loud day at the Olympics for the little boy. His behavior is normal considering his age and circumstance. I applaud the mama, she is strong and loving.

Wow. Italian skater Francesca Lollobrigida wins gold at the Olympics, humanizing her baby in front of millions in her post-interview “The message I want to show is I didn’t choose between a family, being a mom (and being a skater),” per New York Times

Men, if your wife is still working because she financially still has to work… you have no business watching sports, drinking with your buddies, scrolling social media, binge watching Netflix, or distracting yourself other ways. You have work to do. Wake up early. Get focused. Lock in. Go build a business. Buy some rental properties. Manage your money. Stop being a child and be the provider God made you to be.

@gotrice2024 1 of 8 kids here. Now that I’m a mom, I realize that giving chores is more work for the parent. it’s always easier&faster just to do it yourself. However, giving your kids responsibility is teaching them life skills. It’s the parents job to set them up to be successful adults.

While I am an advocate for giving kids chores and trying to instill responsibilities in children, I am torn about this. She has some kids doing all this work while others are sleeping and doing easier jobs. I get it she has 8 kids, but she may be working them way too hard at such a young age. I say let them be kids, she literally has a schedule of all their chores and some of their lists look a little hefty while others look lite. Isn’t it the parent’s job to take care of the house when the kids are this young?

@KhabibsNephew @IdlemanShane @alisa_childers @LivingGodsTruth Same doctrine as most Christianity but also importance in the baptism of the Holy Spirit -something that happens after converting (SOMETIMES this includes speaking in tongues) I’m still trying to figure it out, but I don’t think we can ignore it biblically

I appreciate Josh's zeal for the Lord, and have no doubt that he and many others who attended this meeting are sincere believers who love Jesus. I have also appreciated much of Josh's cultural commentary. But as someone who grew up in this type of culture and is now free of it, I am concerned by posts like this. (My comments here are in good faith so please read the whole post before commenting.) First, it could send the message to other Christians that they are missing out on something God is doing. It could cause them to want to imitate this, which in my opinion, could be disastrous for the spiritual life of many believers. The context of 2 Cor. 10:14 has nothing to do with encountering God, music, or chasing God's instructions for your life or for your nation. 2 Cor. 10:14 is the primary passage on spiritual warfare which it defines as demolishing "arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." This all has to do with the realm of ideas. We do spiritual warfare by speaking truth to lies, not by having experiential encounters. Now to the points: 1) Nowhere in Scripture are Christians instructed to pray for a "supernatural outpouring of God's spirit." Scripture instructs Christians to "be filled with the Spirit," which is a continual obedience to God's Word empowered by the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. 2) Nowhere in Scripture are Christians instructed to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit to tell them what to do. This type of teaching has wrecked the lives of many believers who made horrific decisions about who to marry, what job to take, where to move, etc. Just watch Mike Wingers video on the multitude of fake prophecies that are now being exposed. In these types of environments, the music, energy, and excitement make people more suggestible and more easily manipulated by other people, and even their own imaginations. Scripture gives instructions on how to live and how to make decisions. We don't extra-biblical revelation for that. 3) Biblical worship is not defined as singing songs. In fact, Paul defines "spiritual worship" as presenting "your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God," in Romans 12:1. This is a continual obedience to the Lord and living a life of being conformed to his image. And please don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying it's wrong to sing. Singing biblical truth is a good and beautiful expression of worship. But it isn't the only one, and it isn't "war" in the sense it's being used here. Also, the devil isn't afraid of your singing if you are singing theologically weak songs that mislead you and keep you from engaging deeply with Scripture. 4) Setting the expectation to have an "encounter with the living God" is vague. You can encounter the living God by reading his Word. You can encounter the living God by obeying his commands. You can encounter the living God by repenting of your sin, trusting in Christ, and being filled with the Holy Spirit. The type of promise being made here sets people up for a letdown (and potential deconstruction) when the hype doesn't match the expectation. I would never deny any true and good fruit that happened as a result of this meeting. If people experienced conviction of sin and repentance, if they have increased boldness to preach the true gospel (and not give excuses for false teachers who preach the prosperity gospel,) if biblical intercession was practiced, and if the attributes of God were magnified and extolled, I rejoice. But all the extra-biblical stuff is why so many Christians are burning out on the charismatic church. It's why I left the charismatic church 8 years ago.

Tonight is the most important night of the year at Lakepointe Church... Night of Prayer and Worship. If you've never been to Lakepointe, just come. Your problems are ALL more spiritual than you think they are, and you cannot solve supernatural problems with merely natural power. We need "divine power to tear down strongholds" (2 Cor 10:14) RULES FOR TONIGHT... 1) If you are able, come early and PRAY FOR THE PRAYER MEETING –– for a supernatural outpouring of God's Spirit. (Doors open at 6pm at Rockwall Campus, 6:30 at all other campuses) 2) Decide in your heart before you come, "Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do it, Lord. My Yes is on the table." The Spirit leads the willing. 3) Worship like it is war. Because it is. For our hearts, for our children and grandchildren, for our nation, for the nationS, for the glory of God. 4) Settle in your heart you are not coming for a powerful concert. You are coming for an encounter with the living God. See you at 7pm. Open hearts, open heavens...

@MikaTeacherNote @IdlemanShane @alisa_childers @LivingGodsTruth Pentecostalism is founded on the incorrect interpretation of speaking in tongues as some gibberish. The early gentiles who received the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues, spoke in different languages. Find me a Pentecostal pastor who can speak in mandarin randomly, you can’t

@KhabibsNephew @IdlemanShane @alisa_childers @LivingGodsTruth Modern Pentecostalism is certainly a mess. Is there a place for a Pentecost teaching based on the book of Acts that continues the ways of the first church, as it was in the Bible? (Set aside both the concert-like, sensation seeking movement and the legalistic- traditionalists)

@IdlemanShane @alisa_childers @LivingGodsTruth The Book of Acts has been co-opted by charismatics for hundreds of years now to preach false doctrine and manipulate people. Things like speaking in “tongues” is just an example of something present in the book, but misinterpreted by Pentecostals and charismatics for years now

@haymes_joshua @MikeWingerii is incredibly busy with some projects right now, but he's done a nearly 7 hour long video on that topic alone looking at all the arguments for and against it. I don't know if he'd be available for a debate, but he's the best studied on the topic that I know of.

Does scripture require women to wear head coverings in worship? I’m looking to host this debate very soon. But I need a debater! I need somebody who’s willing to defend the proposition that “head coverings are permissible, BUT NOT REQUIRED.” Comment below a suggested debater. Ideally, I’m looking for somebody with a public platform. This is simply a way to vet potential debaters.

@JulienStevenso4 @haymes_joshua @MikeWingerii Normally I’d say yes to including Mike Winger in a Bible-related debate ❤️, BUT didn’t his 7 hour video about head-coverings end with “judge for ourselves” and no definite conclusion on whether it applies to modern day Christians? Let me know if I missed something in the video.

One of the most significant moments from the Trump Davos speech was when he said the quiet part out loud You cannot lower housing costs for young people without destroying millions in wealth for boomers "Every time you make it more affordable for somebody to own a house cheaply, you are actually hurting the value of those houses. I don't want to do anything to hurt the value of their house. If I wanted to crush the housing market, I could do that so fast that people could buy houses. But you would destroy people who already have houses." Our politicians are sacrificing people in their 20s and 30s for the prosperity of boomers Let that sink in

You don't have to mourn that you're children aren't growing up in the wholesome world you grew up in. You can... • withhold internet access • withhold phones/devices • ban all inappropriate media • homeschool or christian school • oversee friend group/relationships • teach them in the faith constantly • play lots of board games • read books together • spend time outdoors together • take them to church • maintain christian/heritage traditions • love your spouse • discipline your children • purposefully make your home warm and comforting (even if just via thrift stores) • eat meals together at the table • play (some) video games WITH them • sing together • explore together ...and they will likely have an even better experience than you did in the 90s

Did you know C.S. Lewis predicted the modern obsession with “being nice” would destroy the soul? In The Abolition of Man, Lewis argues that when a society stops believing in objective virtue, it doesn’t become tolerant… it becomes manipulable. He calls the result “men without chests.” People with appetites and intellects, but no courage, no honor, no trained moral instincts. They can calculate everything and defend nothing. Lewis saw that once we reject inherited moral law, we don’t become free. We become raw material… easily shaped by propaganda, pleasure, and fear. Modern man prides himself on compassion while quietly surrendering every standard that once gave compassion meaning. Lewis’s insight is brutal: a civilization that educates clever cowards will eventually be ruled by tyrants or technicians. Because when nothing is worth dying for, everything becomes negotiable… including human dignity.

I just figured out why the Minnesota ICE death is bothering me so much. This liberal woman was willing to take on federal agents, to disrupt ICE operations, in order to protect criminal Somalis. Obviously, she probably didn't imagine she would be killed. But surely, she must have known that, at the very least, she could be arrested. She has three kids. So she was willing to be separated from her kids to protect criminal Somalis. Speaking as a mother, this is insanity. This is not rational thinking. What it is, instead, is the result of liberal brainrot that convinces progressive women they have more of a duty to nurture and protect poor, brown (criminal!) strangers than their own country, and hell, even their own children. I am praying for this woman's soul and for her family. But I mean it when I say this type of thinking is almost wholly responsible for the decline of Western civilization.
