Last night, in front of a packed house in the Ville, the HUDZ Committee approved $30M to tornado recovery. The 3+ hours of public testimony made a real difference, leading to several amendments and shaping the bill into something that better reflects residents’ needs. (1/2)

Cara seemed to be considering opening it back up. But thanks to @tishaura, that's not in the realm of possibilities, and I am so incredibly thankful to her for that.

Imma say this again, @saintlouismayor investment in Freedom Community Center helped us support over 200 survivors of serious violence.
40% of those people are Black women in domestic violence - helping them escape.

This is just Shameful. @saintlouismayor has to go. This is inhumane and is happening because of closure of the workhouse. What a big waster of taxpayer monies. Invested millions of dollars to retrofit the facility just to pay millions on dollars to demolish it.

We worked hard this:
- thousands of doors knocked
- thousands of bailouts and pretrial supports
- hundreds of coalition meetings, press conferences, strategy sessions
- hours of litigation
- death threats and media attacks.
Tomorrow it will be demolished. It was all worth it
