As any historian can tell you, no “extensive reporting” will tell you what exactly went on in the White House two years later. Not for decades later will we know for sure. She wasn’t “lying”, she was politically maneuvering which is what you do in serious adult politics. One could argue she could have chosen better phrasing. One could also argue that with this phrasing she put pressure on Kamala to help achieve a ceasefire before the polls. But to hold this one sentence over her head like some grave political scene shows you are jot politically serious. You’d turn on her over other issues just as many have on Mamdani. Mamdani would never be mayor if he had listened to this crowds. What you really wanted of her was ofc NOT to endorse Kamala, I.e. help elect Trump as much as the left did. She obviously shouldn’t have done that. She did the right thing to stay on top of the Democratic fold. Her strategy of being “inside outside” is critical to her not being on the fringes as Tlaib is for instance. (And Tlaib’s strategy works for her and is alright for her — but not for someone who wants to aim for higher office). As for “crowds,” I was referring to, it’s not the whole pro-Palestinian camp which includes much more reasonable voices which have been consistently pro-AOC. I mean the fringe, loud on the internet, wreckers in real life, with close to zero political weight where it matters. I honestly have to thank you because your opposition to her is godsend. It's absolutely and completely insane that this is a common 'leftist' critique of AOC and that even led to like 9 articles about it in Nation, etc. right after it happened. She was speaking at a political rally in favor of her candidate. Declaring that she was pushing for a ceasefire is a political tactic of putting pressure on her to push for a ceasefire. And how is everyone so sure tat Kamala was doing nothing for the ceasefire anyways? They are privvy to everything that went inside the White House? It was the right thing for AOC to do. She is now to APOLOGIZE for it? What AOC needs to do is to completely rise above these crowds
