🚨 BREAKING: The FDA just proposed keeping semaglutide, tirzepatide, and liraglutide OFF the 503B compounding list, stating there is no “clinical need” to compound them even when patients cannot afford or access branded versions.
This is a major shift because if these drugs are not on the shortage list and not on the bulks list, the legal pathway for large scale compounding begins to disappear, which directly threatens access for millions relying on compounded GLP-1s.

You think you know the benefits of NAD? You will be blown away with the real science. #NAD

I think it will be in the form of some sort of guidance and ultimately fall back on Enforcement Discretion. That’s the fast way. If they were to go the “old process” of nomination and categories even if they were to to go category 1(which I would find highly unlikely) it still doesn’t make it permissible to compound. Either way I am a proponent

@MikeAlden2012 The formal written announcement hasn’t been made yet, but during that Joe Rogan episode was the first time he mentioned it publicly
My guess is it will come in the next six weeks or so?

With the announcement that peptides will be now made much easier to get prescriptions for from compounding pharmacies, you will start to see ‘research peptide’ companies starting to either voluntarily close down or be forced to close.
Case in point : Peptides Sciences
One of the largest research based peptides companies for many years.
The first of many.

Amazing news for peptides!!! RFK Jr. just announced on the Joe Rogan podcast that within the next few weeks 14 peptides (of 19 total) will be able to be compounded again legally in the United States. That’s what I call progress!

@spadan25 @himshouse @grok Doesn’t impact HIMS at all. They don’t sell research peptides. If there is an impact. It would be when and if peptides are able to be compounded.
English

@himshouse @grok what is peptide science and how does it affect hims ?

@JasonTPA @hubermanlab They did. It was absolutely horrific! I would love to see it.

Assuming this is real it may have something to do with their “must pay by Venmo to the following name” (at least that’s how it used to be). FDA is easing up on some aspects of peptides but gray market is about to get CRUSHED.
Rory Not Sorry@rorynotsorry
One of the biggest names in the Peptide Space shut down. Peptide Science was big. No rumors of legal action so I suspect it’s take their money and move on.
English

@TheElonist @hubermanlab It’s not FDA approval. It’s violating the FDA regulations. Drugs get approved by the FDA. Food and supplements and many cosmetics are regulated by the FDA. If those companies make unsubstantiated claims then the FDA comes in and shuts down.
English

@hubermanlab Was I mistaken to the common knowledge “all products must not be approved by the FDA to be placed on shelves, but if the FDA catches one they’re the body of governance”

What do you think the easiest path to the Winter Olympics could be and don’t use AI. I’m thinking bobsled. #WinterOlympics
