This is not a big league starting catcher. That’s why I’ve been saying the Yankees need a right handed catcher, preferably one who could hit a little bit.

Until proven otherwise, I believe the Yankees are in a good spot. Needs are pretty simple: RPs, a RHH C, and getting guys healthy. All moves that can be done affordably in July. This isn’t 2017/18/19/22 where they need to go big-game hunting for starting pitching.

I don’t love his pitch shapes and velocity. Just a bit more bullish on Cebert (fastball should play in majors) than Cunningham right now.

@ChiefTeef8 Yeah Boone plays a big role. But he still takes orders from Cash and the nerds. I think it stems more from the top. Bc Cash’s philosophy is still all or nothing with the long ball.

At this point in time you have a very large sample size that suggests the hitter he was in 2024 is not the hitter he will be moving forward. This isn't like last year either where the WAR is fine because of the glove, he is pacing for a sub-2 WAR season.

It is very interesting that I see a ton of criticism thrown towards Jazz and Grisham. I see awful trade ideas surrounding relief pitchers and one tool players. Yet, I don’t see the same energy for Austin Wells. And I like Wells but he’s their worst hitter by quite a bit.

Rodon’s going to hit a good stretch of starts at some point. Expected some rust in May. The Yankees offense should be dominating a game like this.
