I feel like my brain doesn’t know what it wants to do with football I love to scout, watch film, do film breakdowns, make funny football memes and edits, sharing relevant football content, making commentary/reaction videos and doing live shows, interviewing players, shooting on the sideline, editing those shots, capturing viral social content, building brands I sometimes wonder what it would be like to just pick one of those things and only put my energy into doing that as best I could

There is an expectation among many industry sources that the aggressiveness of some teams to sign players will continue -- with the anticipation that if there is a salary cap in the future, any deal signed before Dec. 1 might have to be grandfathered into the next system.

I’m an immediate fan of Alabama WR Germie Bernard He strikes me as a guy who the 49ers would be very keen on based on his extremely versatile skillset He reminds me a lot of Omar Cooper Jr but you can potentially snag Germie at pick 58. A guy who shows great yac ability, can win behind the LOS or downfield and has a toughness to him that the 49ers appreciate If 49ers go edge rd1, Bernard has to be a top target in the 2nd round if they are targeting WR

Yeah the whole 49ers draft hat feels like a missed opportunity A gold brim with scenes of San Francisco would look better imo (sorry Santa Clara)

A great interview with Kyle Shanahan and Matt LaFleur • Kyle wouldn’t have wanted Brock Purdy to play in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic after he saw Joe Burrow taking a shot during practice • Matt enjoyed watching Kyle’s team get their ass kicked on TV in the flag football game • Kyle’s only downtime during the season is on Friday evenings between 6:00-10:00 • Matt says his only downtime is during the bye week It’s long, but a great conversation that would be well worth your time 🎥: @ProFootballTalk

Spicy! #49ers HC Kyle Shanahan says he knows for a fact the #Rams lobbied to play them in Australia because 49ers fans take over SoFi Stadium. Shanahan wants the NFL, in return, to send the Rams to Mexico later in the year when the 49ers have a game there. “I’m requesting them in Mexico. Not that it gives us an advantage, but it’s fair to make them go out of the country twice too.” 🍿🍿🍿 (via @PFT_Live)

Listening to Jed York and John Lynch comments at the owners meetings re: Brandon Aiyuk — it sounds like the exact situation I laid out below is 100% in play Not only does it confirm 49ers are looking for a return in a BA trade but an actual return to the team in 2026 is a possibility
Brad@Graham_SFN

Business is business and Brandon Aiyuk is an asset another team wants Literally zero rush to move off him unless someone wants to convince the Niners to move off him sooner 3 years ago I could have never envisioned BA returning to the team but after the Jimmy Garoppolo situation — I could see them holding him until someone offers something or….force him to suit up for the team if he wants to play 👀

@SuaKCravens What do you think about Gentry whom some say will have similar issues fitting in the run game? Hybrid S/LB is starting to make waves now (SEA)

I’d agree … When I was drafted , they told me I’d be playing safety at first, but when I arrived I was thrown into the LB room as a ILB (a position I had never played in my career before) so it felt like I had to relearn the game of football and made me kinda doubt my own ability as a player at times. Coming from USC and having a revolving door of systems & HC’s didn’t help me develop as either a safety or a LB. I played 3-4 different positions at USC (and just happed to be good at em) but never really mastered one. By the time the league came, it felt like Washington was just spitballing what they’d want from me on a week to week basis. One week I’m a true ILB trying to get off double teams at 220 pounds and the next I’m playing basically playing safety and guarding WR’s, TE’s, and slots depending on the formation. I believe if it’s why I ended up dealing with so many injuries in my short NFL career. On top of the fact I ALMOST WENT BLIND from a concussion trying to play aggressive while being undersized. I never had issues with Jay in Washington. I liked him as a HC and trusted em enough to actually cry in his office in private like a baby, when I told em “Something doesn’t feel right with my eye !! I don’t feel the same , something’s off!!” After my concussion before the 2017 season. I have a ton of regrets when it comes to my football career. My biggest is not staying at USC for my senior year, learning how to really play ILB, and avoiding getting drafted by Washington all together. But I’m grateful for the opportunity and hope none of these kids in the future go through the same injuries I set through. And I am in no way offended by Jay’s words. He and I have always kept it 100% whether he liked or not and vice versa . It’s a mutual respect on a situation that didn’t work out in the end 🙏🏽 💯 #HTTR #FightOn

Former Redskins HC Jay Gruden says he didn’t want to draft S Su’a Cravens: “Su’a Cravens was one, we had a lot of different opinions on. I didn’t want the guy at all, you know, just because he didn’t fit. He wasn’t a safety, he played outside LB. We didn’t, you know, he’s too little, not because he wasn’t a good kid or a good player, just there’s nowhere to put him.”

@Graham_SFN My point w BY take is that in no measurable is BY better than Purdy outside of playing at Alabama. The draft is flawedddd especially at QB

@Graham_SFN Yup; Niners have founds so many gems inside the margins (rds 3-7). You could argue their best players have been found here outside of Bosa - 54, 57, 2, 85, 15, 13, Huf, etc. Do you think 13 goes 1st if he picked his scholarship from Saban instead of Campbell? À la Bryce Young

Y’all know I love me some Brock Purdy but there is not a world that exists where he is a first round pick in a redraft scenario that doesn’t include hindsight scouting The draft process is highly focused on physical traits which Purdy doesn’t necessarily have any elite attributes in which significantly contributes to why he wouldn’t be a 1st round pick What makes Purdy a legitimate NFL QB are the things we don’t see and are extremely hard to scout and project: the intangibles He is an elite processor, an elite gamer, elite leader, an elite worker and these things don’t show up in combine testing or pro days unless you are highly trained to pick up on them or are able to sit directly with the player but even then, a lot of evaluators aren’t in tune with that aspect of scouting The person is the hardest aspect to scout and always will be and Purdy exemplifies why scouting isn’t an exact science Scouting is so heavy on physical tools and traits because they can be measured and compared and in a physical game of course you want the most physically imposing players, but how do you measure heart? How do you measure being down 24-7 at half in the NFC Championship game and have the competitive drive and mental fortitude to come back and win that game? The answer is, you can’t really. It’s an intrinsic quality that no stop watch or measuring tape can quantify. It’s something only adversity can reveal So would and should Brock Purdy be a 1st round pick if we were to do it all over again, no. But that doesn’t mean anything really because as we have seen from the draft, sometimes all you need is an opportunity because even the best evaluators get it wrong consistently And that’s why you will see me go to bat for the long shots because when you find a gem, don’t let them slip through the cracks because a measurable clouds your judgement because this person is just a phenomenal ball player with a skillset that can translate Tape is the most important — stats/measurables supplement tape evals — Identifying the person is the game changer Grab a cookie if you read all of this 🍪

I like Brock Purdy, but you don't spend a 1st round pick on Brock Purdy. That's the whole point of Brock Purdy.
