@trendyhoopstars How bout some love for Ny'Ceara Pryor (Texas A&M transfer from Sacred Heart) at Top 5 in assists and steals running point at 5'3" in the SEC!?! West Baltimore represent!
@psahlas offers this brilliant 3min screencast to show how a video promoting a safety device for protecting students against #schoolshootings operates as #propaganda to simplify the issue, exploit anxieties, and distract from gun control efforts. #COM416medium.com/propagandacom4…
#COM416 I like how Rachel not only touched on the harmful beauty standards that this ad conveys but she also touched on the lack of diversity and inclusion in the ad. Her video was engaging and well thought out to create that "ah hah" moment for the audience.
After playing @getbadnews, #COM416 student Rachael Cullen says, "I can see how easy it is to become consumed by fake news and how intriguing it is to people." (2 of 2)
On playing @badnewsgame, #COM416 student Rachael Cullen says, "At first, I thought I was going to stay true to my heart as an honest person & not post anything fake or aggressive; the next thing I know I'm deep in posting fake news and getting the viewers all fired up." (1 of 2)

@reneehobbs Media reform is as much empowerment as it is protectionism when it rises from people asking questions about who benefits & who is harmed by how our media and communications have been structured, & finding solutions together. The U.S. media literacy movement began with such work.

What is an album by a female singer-songwriter that could be righteously placed next to Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black, Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of.. and Lana del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell?

@MMFCiccone The history of #onlinesafety#digitalcitizenship reveals that between 2000-2006, grassroots groups of angry & frustrated parents were co-opted or marginalized by the platform & telecom companies who were concerned about their potentially damaging fears & negative tone.
Has anyone written about the obsession with “be kind” in #DigitalCitizenship as a vehicle for/manifestation of white supremacy? I mean, I guess it’s pretty ovcious but I’d love to read an essay about this
@PaulGillett@MediaLiteracyEd I like this point. Not sure what to do about the "no flag? Guess it's true" likelihood, but I don't think I'd lump a president, or this president, in with "people talking non-sense." Maybe trending/spreading disinfo & number of followers/views should trigger the fact check/flag.
Hey #medialiteracy community! We're sure you’ve seen this from yesterday. What do YOU think about Twitter’s “Get the facts” message on President Trump’s tweets about mail-in ballots?
@MedEduLab Disprove the null: Teen snark in online classes is not dependent upon boringness of class. Zoom reason and educator reasons will not have significant data to be interesting for hypothesis test.
Working hypothesis: Zoom changed the default permissions to screen sharing because of complaints from educators, where snarky teens have been hijacking learning by sharing inappropriate content during those boring synchronous classes. Evidence to support or refute is welcome!
@reneehobbs While some predators may find you a tasty treat, I don't see you going out like that. Chilling images though, put me in mind of youtu.be/hd2cfuexAXs Note the Meister Eckhart quote at 2:15, sampled from Jacob's Ladder
@BenBo370@fromanelli41@PaperWithPencil Fun! 💗Gender, representation, covers, business👨🎤 The paired covers opens up for participants to share their own favorite covers that reposition meaning and feeling of a song. I also flashed on listening IN pairs, with headphone splitters--best classroom tech investment ever!
A music/#MediaLiteracy exercise: several female artists just put out an album of Tom Waits covers; in paired listening, explore how different the songs feel, what emotions and understandings are exposed. What say you, @fromanelli41@MikeRobbGrieco and @PaperWithPencil?
@MikeRobbGrieco can you please send me the link to your presentation? I’m hoping to do something similar with my students today and forgot the link ...
