Sir Alex Ferguson on Lionel Messi’s performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 🗣️ “I’ve spent my entire life watching football. I’ve managed against the greatest players, coached some of the best and witnessed generations of talent. But what Lionel Messi is doing at 39 years old is beyond anything I’ve ever seen.” “Most players at that age are long retired or struggling to keep up with the pace of the modern game. Messi? He’s carrying Argentina to another World Cup final. He isn’t surviving he’s dominating. That’s the difference.” “People keep asking how he’s still doing it. The answer is simple: his football brain is decades ahead of everyone else. He doesn’t need to outrun you anymore because he’s already seen the next three passes before you’ve taken your first step.” “Look at this tournament. Every time Argentina needed someone to stand up, Messi answered. When they were under pressure, he demanded the ball. When England thought they had one foot in the final, Messi completely changed the game with two outrageous assists. That’s what greatness looks like.” “You can organise your defence perfectly, assign two or three players to mark him and spend months analysing every movement he makes. None of it guarantees anything because he only needs one second to destroy ninety minutes of hard work.” “What amazes me most isn’t the ability it’s the mentality. The bigger the occasion, the calmer he becomes. While everyone else feels the weight of a World Cup, Messi plays as if he was born for these moments. That’s why he keeps breaking hearts and making history.” “I’ll say something that some people won’t like, but I don’t care. We will never see another footballer like Lionel Messi. When he retires, an era of football retires with him. Players will win Ballons d’Or, score hundreds of goals and lift trophies, but nobody will combine genius, consistency, longevity and humility the way he has.” “Enjoy every minute he’s still on the pitch, because when Lionel Messi walks away from football, the game will lose a little piece of its soul. There will be great players after him but there will never be another Lionel Messi.

Good evening Nigerians, Please note that AriseTV has not taken down this propaganda they pushed on your YouTube channel. AriseTV KNOWINGLY broadcast a senseless skit about kids kidnapping and also post a false pix about a girl that she's dead. The Orire kidnapped students and teacher have been rescued and that girl that @ARISEtv said is dead is not dead. @aonanuga1956 @SundayDareSD @DOlusegun

It’s so funny to see that people are genuinely angry that we are celebrating the safe return of the kidnapped children. Like… were you expecting to hear that they had been killed so you could score some cheap political points? Were you looking for another campaign material? Or what exactly were you waiting for? We are thanking God, thanking the Federal Government, and appreciating the security personnel for bringing these children back safely, yet some of you are still fuming. Y’all will surely fume more. Go and look for another point to campaign with because this one, God has already shut your mouths. For weeks, you people were counting days. “It’s been 30 days.” “It’s been 40 days.” “It’s been 50 days.” Every day came with another countdown and another round of outrage. Now the children are back alive, and you are still angry. Some are asking, “Who rescued them?” “How did they come back?” “Are we sure these are the children” “Why are they smiling?” “Where are the bandits?” Some are even questioning why we are happy or grateful in the first place. If the reverse had happened, social media would have been on fire by now with calls for the President to resign. Now some of you are asking why we are thanking the President and not the governor, as though when the news of the kidnapping first broke, it wasn’t the President you blamed, abused, and held responsible. So when it was time to apportion blame, his name was everywhere. But now that the children have returned safely, suddenly his name should not be mentioned? Something is truly working many of you in the head. Once again, we are genuinely happy that these children and their teachers have returned home safely to their families. And to those who are unhappy because this did not end the way you hoped, may the sadness you have chosen remain with you forever. And before I forget, fem your gutter mouth. #Tadé

Updated: in the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised. There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities. The security agencies will give full account soon.

Diego Simeone on watching Lionel Messi from the stands during Argentina’s comeback against Egypt: 🗣️“I was sitting in the stands, and I’ll admit something I’ve never admitted before I was close to tears when Egypt scored their second goal. The stadium suddenly felt silent to me. I looked around and saw thousands of Argentine fans with their heads down. It hurt because I knew how much this meant to them. “Then I looked at Messi. He wasn’t complaining. He wasn’t looking for excuses. He simply picked up the ball and his body language said, ‘We’re not finished.’ At that moment, I told myself, ‘As long as Leo is on that pitch, I will believe.’ “Every time he touched the ball, you could feel the energy in the stadium changing. The fear disappeared. The hope came back. It was as if 80,000 people were breathing again because Messi had decided the story wasn’t over. “When Argentina completed the comeback, I couldn’t hold my emotions anymore. I stood there in the stands with tears in my eyes. Not because of the scoreline, but because I had just watched a man who has already conquered football refuse to give up on his country. “Then I saw Messi crying after the final whistle… and I lost it. Those tears weren’t from a player who had won another match. They were from a captain who loves his country with everything he has. That’s something no statistic can ever explain. “People ask why Messi is different. It’s because he doesn’t just make you admire football he makes you feel it. Tonight, from the stands, he reminded me why millions of Argentines never stop believing while he’s wearing that shirt. “When I left the stadium, I wasn’t thinking about tactics or statistics. I was thinking about how lucky we are to still witness a player who can make an entire nation cry, smile, and dream again in the space of ninety minutes.”
