Hello Patti, we’ve met before through the kind of preventable devastation our own politicians helped create. They impose these policies, but they never bear the consequences. People like you and me—and our children—become collateral damage. When state and national leaders and lawmakers embraced open-border and sanctuary policies, they were implemented without any guardrails, screening, or safety; on the contrary, they were rewarded with special privileges funded by taxpayer money, families like ours were on the victim side of their equation, and they were comfortable with that calculus. Yet when tragedy strikes, they ignore us, erase us, and move on. I know how painful it is when your own state fails you. Sadly, Illinois is not the only place led by false compassion and failed leadership. Here in Illinois, we had a declining population until J.B. Pritzker expanded support for illegal immigration with no meaningful guardrails, background checks, or health screening. Even with a declining population, this state was already struggling to meet its own obligations, let alone take on more people it was unprepared to help, yet we’re told there is only upside and no downside. That is why our stories are so inconvenient. It is why much of the national media and political class would rather erase us than confront the cost of their failures. In everyday life, this level of incompetence would cost someone their job. In politics, it too often gets rewarded with more power—while average citizens foot the bill in money, pain, and grief.
