@kunoichi_jp_ Traditions, culture, cultural values. Strange as it may sound, I feel very at home in Japan. I don't like loud noise. I gave another American a sharp look when he tried to have a conversation with me on the train.

@NenosNshemoon Yeah, some of these deshta dialects are amazing! I heard Dr. Geoffrey Khan talk about the Akkadian substrand to Baghdeda dialect and it was really impressive!
English

@MikeWingert The Assyrians of Baghdeda (Qaraqosh) call a door bella, which is a direct descendant of the Akkadian word for ‘city gate,’ abullu.

@GewargisOfAthor @sabaioi For sure. We use it with St. Simeon - Mor Shemoun daSTone. I think it’s Greek.

@Shalom483714681 What's interesting about this is that in the Syriac Orthodox tradition, each prayer begins with a Qawmo ("Station" or "Standing"), which includes the Trisagion and Lord's Prayer.
English

@MikeWingert The Amidah (meaning "standing" in Hebrew) is the central and most important prayer in Jewish worship

@MikeWingert Representing "man" with Tom Selleck is spot on ! Thank you for that 😊

@victor_onyibest Before the camera pulled back, I was gonna say I feel like I’ve seen this guy on my hikes in Los Angeles.

In my latest, I interviewed the Lebanese activist and co-founder of ChristianLebanon, @mariodayba, about #kafno.
Kafno (or “famine” in the Syriac language) refers to the campaign of starvation imposed by Ottoman authorities on Mount Lebanon, the historic heartland of the Maronites and other Lebanese Christians, between 1915 and 1918.
Dayba said:
“The Ottoman authorities, under Jamal Pasha and the Young Turk regime, imposed and enforced policies that perished around 200,000 to 300,000 people. Nearly half of the population of Mount Lebanon died.
“The victims were overwhelmingly represented by the Christian population of Mount Lebanon, especially the Maronites. Entire families disappeared. Villages were emptied. Children died in the streets and by church doors.
"For our people, the word Kafno means the years when Mount Lebanon was slowly strangled between 1915 and 1918 under Ottoman rule, while entire Christian villages collapsed into death and silence.”

What do you know about Kafno: The Lebanese Maronite Genocide? @bulutuzay_ sat down with @mariodayba, the Lebanese activist and co-founder of ChristianLebanon, to discuss this forgotten genocide. idicenter.org/article/kafno-…
