I think the #Steelers wanted Aaron Rodgers back because they think (correct or not) he gives them the best option to win right now.

The Steelers running it back with the ~ 23rd best QB and one of the oldest rosters in the league is predictable, but certainly disappointing for those of us hoping a new regime would bring about meaningful changes.
It is indeed possible to build through the middle. It just requires a vision that can see beyond a few months ahead. That starts at the top (ownership->GM->Staff) and that stuff aint changing any time soon.

Rodgers skill set is still probably enough to keep the Steelers offense from bottoming out, but his risk-averse play style also prohibits them from reaching any ceiling worth pursuing.
He had 193 dropbacks vs. playoff teams last season and generated -80.5 EPA. Steelers went 1-5.
