In all seriousness though, I think it's safe to say that Mike Tomlin has lost control of the Raiders locker room.

@craigmullins @steelcityundrgr 1. We're not still relying on counting stats in 2026, are we?
2. Solak articulates exactly why those numbers are completely and utterly meaningless. x.com/BenjaminSolak/…

Aaron Rodgers was very, very bad last season
English

@cdisted @steelcityundrgr The following stats are not those of a mediocre QB (except the rushing stats).
Passer Rating: 94.8
Yards: 3,322 (15 among QBs)
TDs: 24 (13 among QBs)
INTs: 7 (17 among QBs)
Avg Depth of Target: 6.4 yards
Avg Time to Throw: 2.56 seconds
Rushing: 68 yds, 1 TD

Truly do not understand Steelers fans.
You will take literally anyone who hasn't taken a snap in Pittsburgh and want them as your QB: until you don't.
The pandemonium over wanting Rodgers, even when he became available from Green Bay (and was traded to the Jets) was borderline ridiculous.
We get there's Pitt fans who pulled for their hometown guy Kenny Pickett. There's Ohio State and Penn State fans in the Steelers base also doing the same for Will Howard and Drew Allar too.
But why anyone but Rodgers? Yinz even tripped over yourselves wanting the guy on the left, Malik Willis, during free agency.
Yes, Malik Willis, a quarterback with a grand total of 155 pass attempts in the NFL. The same player who just signed a three-year contract with the Miami Dolphins worth $67.5 million with $45 million guaranteed at signing, including a $22.25 million signing bonus.
That is the type of extreme risk that will tank a franchise for years. NOT signing a former four-time MVP who still has a high floor and can help mentor the two aforementioned young QBs.
Everyone just needs to take a chill pill. Pittsburgh has an improved offense, loaded up on defense and wiped the slate clean with a new, but proven coaching staff.
If they were able to go 10-7 and win their division with what everyone disliked last year, the how can you not be the least optimistic about this season?

@3Rivers_Writer @steelcityundrgr Every single relevant data point says that he’s not only worse than Willis, but significantly so.
English

@cdisted @steelcityundrgr Rodgers didn't have a hand-picked OL in 2025 and had DK and sometimes CAustin II ... Regardless, yeah, he's not the same guy he was in Green Bay. He's far better than Willis, though.
English

@steelcityundrgr Again, it's hard to understate how aggressively mediocre (at best!) to bad Rodgers has been for consecutive seasons now. It isn't going to get better, and the team is absolutely nowhere near competitive with him in at QB.
English

@steelcityundrgr If the idea isn't to be embarrassingly bad, then this take is fine. If the take is that Rodgers - who hasn't been good in four years, including with his handpicked OC and exact receivers he wanted - can somehow bounce back in his age-43 season and be good, then yikes.

@LedyardNFLDraft @Steelers_DB It’s an underrated component of all of this, but I really don’t think the front office and coaching staff are ready for how loud the boos are going to be for McCarthy and Rodgers if this thing goes south quickly.

@Steelers_DB Me, personally, I always love complicating my future cap situation for 42 yr old QBs who hate my young players, have been past their prime for years and just played at a below average level for my team last season.

Rodgers got the raise he was looking for. Like we talked about last week, trickle down effect will be interesting to watch. They need to restructure 1-2 deals to make the $ work.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter
Compensation update: Aaron Rodgers is expected to sign a one-year deal worth up to $25 million, per sources. The deal is expected to include a base salary between $22 and $23 million, with up to a few million more in incentives. The deal still needs to be finalized and signed.

I wrote about
🔸Aaron Rodgers can and can’t do at his advanced age
🔸how Mike McCarthy will try to design an offense around that
🔸the chance that this year’s offense is better than last year’s offense

Steelers essentially "uninstalling" everything Drew Allar learned about playing QB and "re-uploading" their own fundamentals and mechanics, per @bepryor.
