When someone asks me why I am voting for @MikeKennealy, this is one of the many reason why.
Side note: I listen to all the candidates but no one ever sounds as authentic as Mike Kennealy. Especially with Minogue, who speaks like he's on a reality show while flying on his helicopter. Minogue reminds me of another fake politician: Maura Healey. Listen and watch Kennealy, you will see the man who will turn Massachusetts around.

@MikeforSchools I would also say that I think you can have new development and new growth which is both exempt from prop 2 1/2 and I think solves a lot of these issues for urban communities

Medford passed a $7.5M override. Winchester rejected $11.5M. Somerville froze hiring to avoid the ballot entirely.
Three cities, one broken system. Prop 2½ shouldn’t make funding schools and roads a gamble every few years.

@realBurhanAzeem I dont think that's true. Most school overrides i have seen are for operational expenses. Repairs that require additional tax funding should be debt exclusions which is a fixed amount with an end date.

@MikeforSchools To clarify I mean like a lot of overrides are for school repairs and so saying “We need to pay for 5 years to these repairs” but afterwards the increase will go away.

@realBurhanAzeem thanks for the reply. What is stopping towns from doing #1 now (if I understand correctly)? Our town voted down an override last year, which would have raised $5M over 5 years. Is that what you mean by phased in?

1.Let towns phase overrides in over years instead of all-or-nothing ballot questions
2.Fully fund the reimbursements the state has already promised cities (special ed, transportation, veterans’ benefits)
3.Restore $351M in local aid (MMAs ask)

Received a text message from my mobile carrier acknowledging my 22 years as a customer. It reminded me that was the year we moved, and our previous carrier had terrible service here. I then thought: "The town never recognized that. Why don't towns treat residents like customers?"

Filed my #taxes over the weekend. Just another check to the government. I think the #IRS should be required to provide a statement which shows where every penny of your taxes were spent. That would be #accountability.
