The "bond markets will punish us" line is a political fiction. 2009, 2020, 2022 - just 3 examples where the BoE stepped in to control yields (interest rates). Bank of Japan had an official Yield Curve Control policy. The lie is an attack on democracy cnbc.com/2026/05/12/uk-…

Thank you for all your hard work and your drive to create change, to make Westminster so much safer for walking and cycling. Thank you for showing us that real change to streets is possible by local Councillors in Central London. I can’t even begin to think of all … 2/3

Across England some 20m people live in local authorities where 20mph has been set for most urban/village roads. Scotland and Wales have set it as a national standard. Results are amazing with Wales recording a 26% reduction in casualties on urban/village roads in the year after implementing.

@francesca_kms My kids will argue hard to go by bike over car every time (unless it’s raining!). And they’re obsessed with showing me how long (not long!) they can cycle no hands. It’s them celebrating in mastering advanced balance and motor skills. Cycling is freedom and empowerment for kids

Don’t worry—he’s having a great time. He’d much rather get from A to B on his bike than sit in the back of a car.

@francesca_kms Why are you always in a hurry ? We have great family time in our car, kids in the back singing to the radio, telling jokes . I feels sorry for kids being forced to ride a bike in sooty cities .

Ed Miliband just announced that the Government will aim to delink the price of electricity from gas, something we’ve argued for since 2022. This is bold, welcome, and targets a core problem in Britain’s electricity prices. How this happens, though, matters enormously. 🧵

On this day in 1974, bollards were installed in De Beauvoir, Hackney, to manage traffic and prevent danger from passing vehicles. All this happened before the term "low traffic neighbourhood" was invented. Definitely one of my favourite areas in London, and a dream for cycling

If you are talking to parties and candidates in your borough ahead of the Local Elections on 7th May, here are some suggestions for making streets and roads safer and more attractive for people who are walking and wheeling. londonlivingstreets.com/2026/03/12/loc…

This is why protected cycle lanes matter. One lane can move up to 7× more bikes than cars per hour. Bikes take a fraction of the road space, freeing up the rest of the road. Private car drivers, you’re welcome 😉 🚲

Proud of the work @annalawton15 and I have done together in Hermitage and Gardens - fighting for safer streets, better housing, and always putting residents first. She'll continue to be a brilliant advocate for our ward @HaringeyLabour

Proud to be a signatory to this letter. Many residents in Haringey share concerns about high street gambling premises, their impact, and the lack of local powers to prevent new ones opening. As part of our work in Haringey on gambling harm, we would like see change to the law. 👇🏻

Thank you to the 280 cross-party signatories backing my campaign & 10 Minute Rule Bill to end the outdated ‘Aim to Permit’ principle. Councils & communities must have the power to say no to more gambling establishments. People before profit! 👇🏾
