@NateSilver538 Prediction Markets incentivize people to be critical of information when taking a side. In @ForecastByNPE we see people often cite quality sources (observablehq.com/d/a4cbac3f27b5…) Enabling people to be more critical is by itself valuable, even if some are ultimately incorrect.

It's actually kind of alarming how delusional prediction markets are. They give Trump a 12% chance of winning Nevada, a state that has been called for Biden and where he has a fairly large lead, and where there is no coup possibility since it's run by Democrats.

The feelings this morning.

With the margin in Georgia now at about 4,000 votes, I'm thinking about the ~60,000 people represented in this analysis I did, of early voting wait times in Gwinnett County, and about the poll workers who counted (and will now recount) all of their votes 🙏

@philogb And yet when I send an area equal map like the NYT electoral college map to anyone it frustrates them immensely :'(

One key takeaway from this election is that choropleth maps mislead a lot more people than what I imagined

@jcukier @Elijah_Meeks Same with Voronoi and Hierarchy. A lot of good “ML” could be hacked together quickly by a voronoi in a lay/long coordinate plane. While I organized @sfdatamining I met people that actually took that approach to support local searching optimization’s.

@jcukier I’m surprised @Elijah_Meeks considered scales as vis. It’s just a data munging API that I feel most good programming environments need, but far too little actually have.
