Sometime I just chill with good old computational geometry and a bit of math. No agents, no AI, just me, sketchbook and trigonometry.

a bunch of experiments from today, but none really clicked: superformula as a parametric function with ring lines superformula as an SDF with curl lines superformula as an SDF with ring lines isolines of perlin noise on a sphere maybe the last one 🤔

shadertoy.com/view/tcSyWK The limit of the (1/n) double cusp groups is the apollonian group, but the limit of their limit sets is not the apollonian gasket. It adds an extra vertical translation symmetry to the tiling of the modular group \Gamma_2 in the upper half plane model.

Great opening for “Warped Realities”, on @MoMath1 on Fifth ave. With great work by several artists.

I’ve been trying to plot the implicit equation at the top of this page which generates “reduced solutions” for x^2+y^2=z^2 . I wanted to see these results graphed and interpolate from whole to real numbers . Can someone or something help me with this ??

I am excited to share our milestone on kepler.gl 3.1 release - adding support for @duckdb integration, LLM assistant with models from OpenAI, deepseep, Ollama, and map rendering PMTiles. Still free, still browser only.

@shapeways your site is not working. I can't log in and the icons seem not to be serving well. Can you please check it? Thanks.

@philogb Just wanna drop in for a little feedback on philogb.github.io/page/hopf/# =) on page 2 and 3 after the animation, It would be nice if the collors of rings line up with the dots on the sphere. But thank you for creating it. It's nice to use when explaining to my friends. =D

So a torus is S1xS1… but isn’t this S2? And isn’t S2 a sphere? I’m in one of those days where I feel really stupid.

And if the flat torus is a tiling by translation is there anything that covers the plane with spherical shape? An equivalent of the stereographic projection?

@houssam_ennoura The only difference is that the circles that make up a torus don’t intersect , that’s where the hole comes from

@houssam_ennoura But if you take two orthogonal circles with the same center and make a product of that, don’t you get a sphere ?
