@Jahkaiz1 I’m not saying Kenyan students can’t compete but Kenyan students have to adapt and play catchup once they study or work abroad.

@Mimi254_Ela I totally disagree. Having schooled with Chinese students in the US, I can tell you firsthand that we’re on the same level of excellence. The system has its flaws, but it produces students who can compete with the best globally. It’s about the grit, not "rubbish."

Those guys who hype Kenyan education system are lying to you. We’ve been taught rubbish for years. Our curriculum planned by backward people in the ministry. Our government employees are allergic to technology.

@Jahkaiz1 We definitely learnt to cram and sit for exams. Being good at taking exams isn’t the only determinant of a sound education system. As the last of 8-4-4 students make their way to the finishing line, God knows how CBE formerly CBC will pan out.

@Mimi254_Ela My niece actually began high school in Kenya and transferred here to finish, graduating cum laude before heading to the Ivy League, where she’s already crushing it with a flying GPA. That doesn't happen if you were taught 'rubbish.'

@AniwNewguy9280 @i_ladyborg Eg media studies. The equipment and softwares used in global media houses you never see them until you work there. These media institutions in nairobi just teach you Stone Age technology. Same as medicine, engineering, culinary arts etc pick a field, tuko nyuma

@Carter_Plc Kenya's 8-4-4 physics curriculum produces students who are mathematically elite but conceptually narrow. While they rarely need remedial help, the gap in modern topics & the 12-yr cycle means a "bridging" year is often required for UK/EU university alignment.

@mosety Not quite. Our medical graduates have to study abroad in order to get better in their specialties because of lack of resources, lack of research and lack of equipment. We need to be honest that most of us were just good at taking exams. Hizo zingine we had to train up.

@quinlahn Why are Kenyans in denial? People getting salty and saying how they have emerged successfully. The number of Kenyans I’ve seen who try to work or study abroad have had to get further training because they are massively behind. Tupende ukweli watu wangu.

@adweya_ Kenyans don’t want to admit that they just became good at cramming. Some private schools are not any better, they just have lesser students but it’s garbage in, garbage out. You have to supplement the mediocre education curriculum so that your kid gets a shot out here.

@Mimi254_Ela 💯 and the essays you write there are nothing like the compositions we were made to write in high school. Lecturers were more interested in your takeaway than the author’s premise and that’s where our system failed us. Cramming was incentivised rather than critical thinking

@FunsyzedGurl At no point did I co-sign her. You missed her first point which by the way is the experience of many Kenyans who study or work abroad. They have to play catch up with the rest of the world. See, I didn’t even need to mirror your cheap tackles like rubbish or low IQ sentiments.

@Mimi254_Ela Some of you are just lazy and relaxed. My 10yo son has been coding and designing UI since he was 8. Some schools like Makini teach coding as a subject. Speak for yourself but some Kenyan students actually know those things you're talking about.

@Mimi254_Ela I disagree, we haven't been taught rubbish for years, infact our education system has and is still producing stellar proffessionals. if you ask me the gap is in mentorship and guidance as kids are absorbing so much knowledge..especially in this times..
