@dwarkesh_sp We need another episode with Dylan and Jon from Asianometry, that was one of the most entertaining and interesting episodes and I’d love it if they came back on every 6 months or so to talk about what’s new

@Linahuaa Our “High IQ” business leaders were the ones who took the easy route and offshored everything to China in the first place. I agree the incentives are messed up in the US which drives the most impressive students from Ivy Leagues to Wall St instead of meaningful public service

America has a ~170M working population. ~72K workers in America have an IQ of 150+ ~30K of 150+ IQ workers in America are close to their full potential (no addictions, mental health issues, school drop out, massive underemployment etc) ~15K of the healthily raised 150+ IQ workers in America are working in actual productive fields (not finance, law or social media ads) How many truly productive, non-underachieving 150IQ+ folks does China have? ~500K

If H-1B’s were so desperately needed, like Big Tech claims, then China and Israel would be bringing them in by the millions. Actual counties (America is acting like a cell phone kiosk rather than nation) with a vision for its people operate differently. Citizens first.

@yoalexrapz Before social media, there were stronger connections to community. Now everyone is infatuated with impossibly beautiful women, rich lifestyles, and they think that they deserve it all too. Men today want to be a multimillionaire playboy, but it is better to be loved and respected

Women didn’t become more radically liberal out of nowhere. Leading masculine men disappeared and it’s a direct result of that. According to the NY Post nearly 64% of young men 18-29 are single by choice. Marriage rates are falling. Birth rates are falling. Millions have checked out of dating, commitment, leadership, community, and lack any ambition. Statistically we can see now that 1 in 3 Gen Z-ers will never marry. The men are eating DoorDash out of heated plastic containers tanking their T, watching porn, watching streamers, and spending their best years behind screens instead of building families, building businesses, building communities, and pursuing women. Women don't exist in a vacuum. They respond to the culture men create. They want to know you’re building something. When men stop leading institutions, building communities, creating stability, and investing in the future, women don't have the luxury of waiting around for that vacuum to fill itself. They adapt and the political consequences come later.
AF Post@AFpost

Despite broad attempts to lambast young men for the “male loneliness epidemic”, studies continuously show women have become radicalized, not men. Even conservatives patronize and demand more from young men, all while women offer less and want more. Follow: @AFpost

@zhao_dashuai One thing to remember is that in spite of labor protections, a huge portion of US and Euro wealth and GDP are generated by people working way more than 8hrs/day and 40hrs/wk anyway. C-Suite executives, celebrities, founders, Wall St, etc couldn’t function working only that much

Germany will abolish the 8 hour workday cap. Ironically, this came after the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited China in February 2026. As he toured China and visited Chinese industries, he realized that German industries can't compete with the 8 hour workday cap. There is a happy middle ground, until we reach true post-scarcity (true communism), there is a correlation between working hard and higher productivity. Chinese socialism is ultimately pragmaticism, to seek truths from facts. And the fact is, the welfare state of EU is collapsing. Caused a myriad of issues; Short term by energy price spikes, to long term issues like lazy population that are too pampered.

@Linahuaa What is your cutoff for a top uni vs mid? USC? In the US, all but 3 or 4 of the top 25 are private schools, so you’re getting the kids of millionaires anyway

I don't hire people from mid universities. I either hire people from top unis or people who dropped out of school, but used to be top 500 in Call of Duty. You can fix smart people's addictions or undiagnosed ADHD, but you can't fix mid. If you're Shanghainese and went to a university in Australia, it's the worst signal you can have. It means your parents are likely millionaires, spent a lot of money on you, likely tried to bribe someone, and yet, you still couldn't even get into the University of Toronto. Being mid is okay for mid companies. Being mid is worth zero or sometimes even less than zero for a top company that requires excellence from every cog in the system.

Another interesting note from the article is his struggle against Deng Xiaoping, who went from one of his adversaries in the party to his successor in 1978 and the man who elevated Mao to a mythical figure. If it all fell apart under Deng, Mao’s legacy probably wouldn’t exist
Arnaud Bertrand@RnaudBertrand

Yet another striking illustration of just how ideologically rigid the West has become compared to what we used to be. This was the obituary The Economist published for Mao in 1976 - at the height of the Cold War. Read this part: "In the final reckoning Mao must be accepted as one of history's great achievers: for devising a peasant-centred revolutionary strategy which enabled China's Communist party to seize power, against Marx's prescriptions, from bases in the countryside; for directing the transformation of China from a feudal society wracked by war and bled by corruption, into a unified egalitarian state where nobody starves; and for reviving national pride and confidence so that China could, in Mao's words, 'stand up' among the great power." Show this text to any Economist "journalists" today - without telling them it's from their own paper - and they'd reply: surely it's "CCP propaganda" 😏 Yes, incredible as it may sound, there used to be a time when Western journalists could assess a geopolitical rival honestly and respectfully without being accused of being a traitor. And this honesty was in no small part a key factor why the West won the Cold War. Today we call honest assessment "propaganda," and we harass, smear, and blacklist people for it. And we're puzzled why the West is in steep decline. Truth matters.

@ShitpostRock2 It's more condescending in Mandarin if you can believe it. The subtitles give you: “why is this so difficult?” The Mandarin gives you: “why are these people like this?” Not worth 8 years of learning Mandarin for but quite funny.
