Here’s the big picture: Iran wants to extend any eventual peace agreement to the entire region. Israel wants to drag more countries into war and destruction and is actively trying to influence or derail negotiations. Do some still seriously claim that Iran’s civilian nuclear program—and its missile capabilities, which it has only used in self-defense—pose a threat to regional peace and stability, while Israel’s nuclear arsenal and vast stockpiles of advanced U.S. weapons do not?
