@EYakoby @jambro01 The washed out @billmaher TV host with a show and podcast nobody watches and listens to is so desperate for those Mossad $$$s that all of these grifters are desperately chasing
English

@Leo_Knock @ImtiazMadmood Iran blew the agreement and you blame Trump.
Typical America-hating liberal.
English

@rickydbryan @magicinthealps Never had Billy Kee chicken… sounds like it’s worth a try!
English

@MiserlyTightwad @magicinthealps Lemon Chicken (US is orange) and Billy Kee Chicken (Jenny Kee’s Dad) Chinese made eith port and Wostershire and tomato sauce as none of the OG ingredients were at hand for a travelling shearer’s cook
English

@rickydbryan @magicinthealps Can you please give me an example of unique Austro-Chinese?
English

@magicinthealps The Aussie café brunch is genuinely one of our few food cultural exports largely on the back of the late great Bill Grainger. Note that Austro-Chinese and Austro-Japanese are more unique than most people realise.
English

@magicinthealps @BTungle25194 Additionally, this is food that is very difficult to find elsewhere in the world, in such conditions- cosy cafe, food AND coffee.
For example in Japan, you can have nice food OR great coffee, but not often in the same place.
English

@BTungle25194 Ham and cheese toastie (some serve with tomato)
Croissants!
Poached eggs with avocado on toast
Sando-style sandwiches
English

@je_ln10 @ViralWavesX Yes, I’ve heard of the bacon butty.
In Australia, you can go thousands of kilometers, cross state lines etc, and people could have the same accent.
English

@MiserlyTightwad @ViralWavesX Most go to the default “bread roll” or simply “a roll”. Other regions, their own take. Even villages in a small region vary
When putting bacon in a “John Montagu” (sandwich), many say “Bacon Sandwich” but Northern English will tend to say “bacon butty”.

English

@je_ln10 @ViralWavesX What are the three different names for a bread roll, btw?
English

@ViralWavesX No-one can “sound British”.
It’s impossible.
Did Sean Connery & Michael Caine ever sound the same?
We have regional accents. By nation then region.
Go for a two hour drive, make regular stops & hear at least 5 different accents & three different names for a bread roll.
English

@je_ln10 @ViralWavesX He did an Aussie accent in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
It was woeful; but I think that was the point.

English

@MiserlyTightwad @ViralWavesX If Caine had been Bond, the immortal line would have sounded Aus (more than Lazenby).
“Pussy Galore” would have been too suggestive & probably cut. “Now Pussy”. He was the 1st person to hear the GF score.
SC in The Italian Job doing the famous line…

@Gamboleer @Whiskey_Rob It’s actually pretty good AI.

@Whiskey_Rob AI video and the account is a fake American. Tap the join date.
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat You mean to say that you have so little contact with real migrants that you don’t know what their media consumption is like?
English

I’ve been saying this all along. Population growth in Australia isn’t above historical levels.
But of course the innumerate morons who support One Nation don’t care about the actual data.
afr.com/policy/economy…

English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat You’ve studiously evaded answering my very general question about your migration history.
I am a first-generation Asian migrant.
Are you?
I am around new and old migrants *all the time* .
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat Yes, this happened in the past, when historical migration load was as per your first chart. And people were immersed in local Australian culture.
But now it is 2.5x that, and people *primarily* consume media from their home, in their own language daily.
(Go and ask around).
English

@MiserlyTightwad @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat I know very well what Australian culture is and I know very well that the vast majority of migrants adopt it over time.
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat The crux of the issue here is that you don’t seem to know what “Australian Culture” is.
Are you a first- or second- generation migrant yourself?
English

@Downunderdazza @MiserlyTightwad @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat 1. I want growth.
2. Is Australian culture so shit that it can’t scale to 50m people? Rubbish.
3. Fine, fix it, but don’t decrease overall numbers.
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat Secondly,
You claim is that there is no cultural effect of mass-migration on Australian culture (and values- eg egalitarianism).
This is simply naive in the extreme.
Perhaps you just don’t know or mix with enough new migrants, and experience things from your bubble.
English

@MiserlyTightwad @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat So what's your solution? Ban all people from South Asian backgrounds from moving here? 🙄
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat So, firstly : what was the deal with the confident
“Rubbish.”
of your earlier response?
This little interaction shows you are under- informed and ill-equipped to be having a discussion about cultural issues in Australia.
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat What? You don’t think this happens here?
You are incredibly naive- Go and look. See what happens to Dalits in Australia.
theguardian.com/australia-news…
abc.net.au/news/2021-02-1…
After that, go look at the forums.
English

@taipan168 @Downunderdazza @Potstirrer111 @disco___cat For goodness sake, that comment is just ridiculous.
As just one example- it’s recognised that the caste system imported from another country now impacts Australian workplaces.
Have a gander online and see.
This is about as unAustralian (non-egalitarian) as it gets.
English

@Josh_is_regen @dolphinsands 10 years behind… in a good way, right?
English

@dolphinsands Sydney is 10 years behind other major cities in Europe and USA... time will tell.
English

@cpinto @dolphinsands I’m a Melbournian who just spent a week in Sydney.
C’mon- Sydney is totally next level.
To visit at least, it shits all over Melbourne. If I was a tourist from overseas, I’d go to Sydney and skip Melbourne altogether.
English

@dolphinsands Nope, Sydney is like any other city, pretty boring and no one would miss it if it didn’t exist. There’s very little interesting to it. Melbourne on the other hand…
