Nowadays kids’ books have messages like “believe in yourself” and “you can do anything” but when I was a kid the messages were things like “a lady who has a candy house wants to cook and eat you” and “sometimes wolves can disguise themselves as old women”

Supermarkets are happy enough for taxpayers to subsidise their low-paid workforce with in-work benefits so they can pay their bosses seven-figure salaries. But ask them even to consider voluntary price caps on basic foods and they'll slam the idea as 'preposterous'.

🚨BREAKING: Reform UK has lost control of Worcestershire County Council. Alan Amos has been defeated in his leadership bid by Matt Jenkins.

I welcome HMRC’s conclusion, which has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have been exonerated by HMRC of the accusation that I deliberately sought to avoid tax. When purchasing a home of my own with a mortgage, I did not own any other property and had no personal financial interest in the court-instructed trust set up to manage my son’s financial award. I was advised by experts that I should pay stamp duty at the standard rate. I set out to pay the correct amount of tax. I took reasonable care and acted in good faith, based on the expert advice I received, and HMRC has accepted this. I have always sought to act with integrity, and I believe politicians should be held to high standards - that is why I resigned from government and cooperated fully with HMRC.  I wanted to ensure that I paid every penny that I owed, and have done so. I am relieved that my family can now move on - and that I can get on with my job.

@APater6076 @JackDunc1 And that would be part of the reason for the corruption between ministers and CEOs of huge corporations - they all went to similar schools and the 'old boy' network is thriving through it!

@JackDunc1 The fact it's completely unpaid juet shows why we have so many posh folk and toffs in politics. They start as councillors and can afford it because they're already well off. No normal working class person can afford to do it. It's no wonder politics is so broken.

The updates re the new Reform councillors have me gripped. 😫 - Some have quit as they didn't realise it was unpaid - Another has stepped down as he thought he would be in Parliament - 2 died before the election (one over a year ago) - And several others can't be traced....
