Wrong. I'm 100% for free speech. Jimmy can say what he wants to say. But he also has to be accountable. In this case he lied and misled his audience. When someone with a platform like his does that, he deserves to be fired.

Everybody knows most VC investments turn out to be shit. That's how high risk high reward bets go.
But nobody at A16Z thinks the solution to that problem is to ask the LPs for *50% less money*!
"Hey, sorry most of our bets failed, but if you give us less money, our efficiency will suddenly explode and we'll be far less wasteful on our high-risk high-reward bets. So please, PLEASE, reduce your next commitment by 50%"

@SpaceX has nowhere to go outside Earth’s orbit if the scientists - from undergraduates to graduate students to postdocs to professors - aren’t pushing science forward because universities can’t support the labs they do research in.

Assuming this detached-from-reality policy ports over to @NASA funding, expect @SpaceX to lose business. Why? Because scientists working in labs supported by university overhead research questions that drive NASA to send missions throughout the Solar System to get answers.

Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above what many major foundations allow and much lower than the 60%+ that some institutions charge the government today. This change will save more than $4B a year effective immediately.
