Anyone who reads this can easily tell that I wrote it. AI isn't this schizo yet. I have time before I'm replaced (maybe). 😂 Hope a few of you humans enjoyed this one from my wild mind (if anyone actually reads X articles at all). Sharing is appreciated! x.com/MishaTurtleX/s…

@SmartMf20963 @chainsawdollie If it’s text, I wrote it myself. I do sometimes play around with AI video but I do that disclose that (which people are more tbh an ok to not be a fan of but I find it interesting). Either way, real human (or turtle).

@signulll I mostly agree, but food for thought: a ruminating artist can create some absolutely incredible things. Depends on what your life is. For me, the more I ruminate, the more I can work on things that are less ruminating and more illuminating.

ultimately it’s rumination that will haunt you. introspection doesn’t if you do it right. i think of introspection as game tape. you watch once, extract the signal, & close the tab. whereas rumination is the same clip on loop w/ no new information being processed. it’s reexperiencing dressed up as reflection. you should treat the past as a read only database. you query it, get your answer, & then gtfo. i do sometimes wish there was an explicit mechanic in the human mind to effectively hit “archive”. i have personally been on a treadmill here. there is a lot more here to dig w.r.t. to modern therapy culture which is effectively designed to dig deep as far as possible indefinitely & often with a lack of clear purpose.

Well, that absolutely sucks. Isn't this mainly an online game? I'm considering picking it up on Switch, and this just seems lazy... like you guys don't care to invest the minimum in what the upper-end of handheld gamers want. Which is fine. But it's a stupid choice. Make a Switch 2 upgrade. Don't charge for it. It's graphics. You'lol make more money if people are enjoying a much better graphical and frame rate experience that the S2 is easily capable of... because they'll buy the DLC for a game that doesn't suck ass as much visually vs competing systems. The Switch 2 is essentially about PS4 Pro level-ish in optimized games while docked and PS4 level-ish when handheld. Or don't consider this at all and just milk your customers, and wonder why people are fed up with the foolish executives in gaming who think their customers deserve less than what their consoles are capable of.

Today is one of my oldest and closest childhood friends birthdays. The kind of friend you can't explain to people unless they had one. The friend that you could trust like family, or in his case, more. We grew up together, and for him, he grew well passed his years in the time that we were close. We me at around age seven at a mutual friends birthday party. We both were into the same things, Ninja Turtles, Nintendo and comic books. Friendships have a way of forming of the important stuff like that. We lived quite close, but our friendship was more than just one of proximity like many neighborhood friends were. We started doing everything together. He'd sleep over my house one weekend then his parents would have me come over the next weekend. His mom was very sweet and she'd be the first to make snacks as we'd play video games well past our bedtime. His dad wasn't around much as he was always seemingly at work, but what interaction I had with him was always pleasant. We did everything together. Our parents both made us join the soccer team and we both hated it. I can still feel the numbness of my face after getting a ball smacked directly into it. I still remember him faking that he hurt his ankle so he could leave the game. We shared our misery. We even had a joint party after our first communion He started having problems in school and because of it, he wouldn't be allowed to hang out a lot of times on weekends. He was never a difficult kid or one to get in trouble, but we were growing up and he was changing. He got quiet when he was previously the loudest and most hyper kid you've ever seen. The night everything changed was when we were 11 and he told me everything. He made me promise not to tell his mom or my parents. He made me promise not to tell our friends. His dad had been touching him. His dad had been making him touch him. I didn't really understand what was happening at the time. I didn't know what any of this stuff meant, I just knew it was bad. His father held him hostage. He told him if he told anyone that he would tell everyone at school he was gay. He'd tell all his friends and all his teachers that he was a little gay boy and that everyone would hate him. He told him that his mother and everyone who he loved would never speak to him again. He begged me not to tell. He made me swear. I wish I broke that promise. I wish I understood the gravity of what had been going on. I hate myself for it. His parents split up and his dad moved out of state. My friend, he got worse. We were 13 and he was drinking, smoking and starting to try drugs. We had gone to separate schools at this point, but he was put into an alternative program for kids with behavioral issues. The last time I saw him was when we were 14. His mom got a new job and they were moving to another state. We make promises when we're young that we'll stay in touch. We didn't. The promise I kept still haunts me though. A long time ago I looked him up on Facebook. I guess I was trying to keep that promise that we'd stay in touch, even if I were late. He hadn't posted in a couple of years and I saw everyone commenting that they miss him. He died of a drug overdose. My friend was gone. My friends life was stolen from him. I was blind with anger. I looked up his father. I wanted to find him. He had died several years prior. I don't know if it's unchristian to feel the way I did, but I prayed his father never made peace with God and repented, so he never sees my friend again. I look at his old Facebook profile photo of him holding his baby daughter from time to time. It cuts like razors. Our secret, till death weighs on me. I help financially with the kid, I talk to the mom, she's a nice lady and is doing her best. I've never told a soul this and I feel like I didn't betray his trust by not naming names. I just had to get this off my chest once and for all. I'll see you again my friend. You were the best friend I ever had.

Also… good point. Partly why I was caught off guard as well. I thought it was going to be “eh… it’s something,” but this is a console-shifting level of change for folks who mainly play handheld. Maybe the increase in sales from people who decide to make the leap to Switch 2 will make up for what is essentially a cut in any Switch 2 Upgrade Pack financial projections they had internally. If the hardware sales that wouldn’t have happened occur and those people end up buying Switch 2 games, I think they made a genius but contradictory move here. It’s better to just make games better and have some upgrade packs turn into DLC expansions rather than have people like me saying “it was a pretty neat new Switch, but I decided to return it and will be pumped for a future OLED version.” Now, I’m alright sacrificing OLED as a necessity for the bulk of my handheld gaming in the short term to have the Switch 2 back in my gaming lineup. I don’t think I’m alone and I think Nintendo realized that... I already bought some Switch 2 games. They are making more money off me than they did before.

Stranger still, that this kind of conflicts with Nintendo's strategy of "Switch 2 Editions" running select SW1 games at better performance, for a price, when now just all SW1 games natively just do that. It's such a good move, it's surprising that Nintendo has even done it.

The Switch 2's random, recent, fairly quietly-launched update that runs Switch 1 games in handheld mode as if they were in SW1 docked performance, has single-handedly now made the Switch 2 hardware completely worthwhile to me. How strange to just drop that mammoth function.

Agreed. I have both a Switch OLED and a used Switch 2 that I picked up for about $275. I like keeping the OLED around as a strictly portable device. I also own all the Labo sets (and am one of the handful of people who apparently truly liked and enjoyed these games), so I don’t see any reason to sell it. It can also be handy for joint/family-style games because graphics don’t matter much for many of those. If you already own a bunch of Joy-Con 1 colors, most party games will still be more than okay on it… Crazy how massive this update was honestly. I immediately bit on getting the Switch 2 again (previously half a year ago, I tried it for a couple months and returned it after liking it the first time but questioning the value to ME specifically). I wanted to love it, but a lot of my games didn’t look very good tbh in handheld mode… and I have a huge Switch 1 game collection. Now, I am in love with the S2 essentially and need one. Blows my mind that Nintendo didn’t even hype this shit up… they just dropped it randomly and it slaps.

Fair enough. Ty… I see what you’re saying now (sometimes I’m a bit slow 🐢). I’ll acknowledge that I was inaccurate, but I wasn’t trying to mislead. The color you’re referring to is what I was trying to dig into when I replied. I’ve used red veins before and didn’t enjoy them much, but I have a soft spot for white kratom. It’s like a pretty non jittery light coffee for me, but I see that this experience differs from others.

I don’t blame you. I’ve been amazed by how much legacy software and really capable hardware gets thrown away for minimal cost savings, so I’m not for one second going to agree that it wouldn’t be used like their Execs claim. Bullshit. I have friends who still have their PS3s in a family cabin or stashed at their parents’ house. You know what’s pretty easy? Just tell Mom or Dad to press the PlayStation buttons, do a Sudoku puzzle if it’s slow while it loads, and then hit their favorite shows. Much more common outside first world nations to still be using PS3s… Sometimes I picked up a dirt cheap PS3 or Xbox and more or less donated it to an assisted living or veterans center. The older folks tend to know game systems much more than the supposedly easier smart TVs. They got confused by them and ended up sitting there watching nothing and being frustrated with technology in their waning years. You’re not going to use a PS5 because your grandson showed you the PS3 UI by watching him play Ratchet and Clank for hours on Christmas. So when presented as an option, old folks used it. Sometimes…. I think…. Probably most of the consoles have died at this point or ended up being replaced by something easier, but I was still making use of Netflix streaming on legacy devices for stuff like this easily into the 2020s. It worked well enough for people who could barely see the 480 pixels… they didn’t care about 4K high bitrate with Dolby audio 😂 But, not anymore. Corporate fuckery.

To be fair, Paul, most people in the world probably do not want to read 10K word streams of turtle consciousness. They prefer… - Short quick bites. - Memes. - Bullets. - Memes about people firing bullets. Mix these with a hefty scoop of AI slop and you got an analytically “perfect” meal for the typical human on social media these days.

I'm catching up on all of this, but can I ask if this is truly something that can’t be bridged? Seems like you’re walking away from a fight with middle management and might end up doubling or tripling down in a way that literally makes them win by forcing you out essentially. Like… that’s my read if you’re truly being frozen out by someone. So… why not just strategize around that differently? With all due respect, you’re a smaller priority than the rest of the stuff going on for the President. I think if you can find a way to avoid that rogue staffer and/or strengthen your ties with friendly voices and figure out what you want to do, why, and what you’re comfortable accepting from the admin that you might personally be against. I don't know… it’s your life and I’m just a turtle walking by, but I hate to see good talent go to waste because of stupid squabbles. If you don’t treat these next few weeks as completely thermonuclear war against your enemies as well as many of your friends, I literally think you’d be able to just pause and find your way with less drama as well as fewer bridges burned. Maybe this is out of pocket and you’re clearly smarter than most I come across on this app, but we don’t know each other well. All I’m saying is figure out what you want and if you think there’s a way to build a bridge back… even if it might end up with a little egg on your face down the road but you’re alright with it… it exists if you take a breath (several paths do actually). They truly do. But if you go all out attacking and forcing cliques, it’s going to just end up being a cost for you that brings in little positive audience or people you may even want around you at all. Just sounds like a miserable experience to me personally unless that’s your cup of tea / you want to fight in the arena yourself with full autonomy even if it burns you down… which if that’s the case, I guess I get it too. It’s easy for people to say something short and witty here or mean and demeaning. I don’t care enough to do that and I’m not important enough that you should change your life because of anything I wrote. But…. Seriously… Your life. Sleep on it.

If they're both into… taboo… stuff consensually that involves it... whatever. Use safe words, have fun. It’s not that out of the realm of possibility for people into the whole domination and submission stuff. I don’t entirely get it myself, but I can sort of understand that consenting adults can have this happen… possibly… in safe ways for their relationship. But if a dude is hurting a girl, not attempting to console her at all, and then gets hard staring at her... Yikes. That’s just straight sociopathy and possibly signs he will hurt her down the road.

People on political campaigns (both sides and all primaries) leverage Community Notes to manipulate and push counter comms. Essentially ops on top of ops. Some just look to troll with them in general. Others build up alts and identities within Community Notes (different aliases that others recognize), leading to gamification where they rush to get successful notes rather than do the right thing (often nothing)….

Here's the problem with Community Notes. While it's funny, Greg was obviously making a joke. A Community note takes away any earnings from that post. While this is a funny example, I've seen a lot of very clear comedy posts with millions of views get noted too. It's a silly system. It's also why big youtubers won't move over here. There's like 30 accounts that get Community Noted non stop. Just apply it to them.

Maybe not spamming 100 times a day, but I’d regularly post video reviews, essays, and stories around 20-30 times a day. I stopped because that’s what X was telling me to do. Instead, tasty content went into other apps or mostly into jokes with my friends across the app rather than my main feed. Instead of trying to have my best timeline, the best of my stuff typically goes into replies. It goes farther and I have more fun. Also, my stuff is usually so much better than the AI trash that whatever algo you apply, I tend to do okay. To be clear: I’m not mad at you or feel owed anything. I love using this app and get a ton out of it, but as a creator, I can’t maximize it close to what I would want to do. And maybe that’s ok, but it is a tradeoff that X is making. You don’t want spam, but you also don’t want the most interesting original people (who tend to post more as well) peacing out after the marginal value of their 3rd or 4th post that day plummets.
