@WallStreetApes But also… I got to spend those No Rush Credits on something.

American is furious, she’s yelling at her TV
She spent around $40 to buy the Hunger Games movie collection on Amazon
She wants to watch Hunger Games Catching Fire. The movie says “unavailable” even though she bought it
Many people don’t know this but when you “buy” a movie or bundle on Prime Video, you’re not actually owning the film like a DVD or Bluray. You’re buying a non-transferable license to stream/download it as long as Amazon has the rights from the studio
Licensing deals expire, get renegotiated, or the rights move to another streamer (HBO Max, Netflix, etc.). When that happens, even paid content can vanish from your library or show as “currently unavailable.”
Amazon’s own terms of use state this in the fine print:
“Purchased Digital Content will generally continue to be available… but may become unavailable due to potential content provider licensing restrictions or for other reasons, and Amazon will not be liable to you if Purchased Digital Content becomes unavailable.”
If you’re going to buy a movie, don’t buy it on Amazon. Always buy the physical disk

The attractive future for AI is that humans will get to do less of this stuff.
The unattractive future is that we don’t manage massive job displacement well and people wish they had blisters again. In the long run, I think humanity will be better off, but watching this sort of stuff can and should make you correctly deduce that this is going to replace a lot of jobs (and not just this robot… it’s an entire overall massive disruption imo)

@Titoburrito6942 @VideoGameHstry Yup. Multiplayer split screen encouraged way more real lasting friendships imo than online random matchmaking has
English

@VideoGameHstry We should not have complained about the split screen.... We had no idea.....

The most important election of our lifetime or anyone’s lifetime is now a coin flip.
Down one path - permanent global harmony. Down the other path - 1,000 years of darkness where your great great grandchildren will pray for a swift death.

@PerryALPHA @nikitabier My Keurig had some mold in it, but then I complained to Nikita and eventually, it turned black and went away!

@nikitabier Nikita, the Android app has been working much better the past week. Thank you for your attention to this matter

Many people misunderstand not wanting to talk with them to mean they dislike or reject them entirely and when people feel rejected they often will default to saying the person is creepy. Sort of like being rejected when dating and the person says they were never interested. Someone who is introverted with high self esteem won’t care either way. Someone extroverted with low self esteem may call them creepy if it results in a blow to their own ego. It’s also possible that the person is genuinely creepy. Some of the quiet ones do give Dahmer vibes so you sort of want to give them space unless you want to be fridged.

@PSAcard How is this any different than ordering a sealed copy from Amazon or wherever?
English

You’re not dreaming—this really is a sealed PSA 9.8 A+ copy of 2010’s Inception. This Christopher Nolan film was an instant classic, grossing $839 million globally and racking up nominations and awards. Just last year it was added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for preservation, and now this copy is preserved in a PSA holder.

Worked for me when I was younger. Younger me watched a lot more black and white stuff than I ever planned because of Zack Snyder’s Justice is Grey.
Extends to gaming and other mediums too in my case. I originally played Telltale’s Batman & the Enemy Within in the colored version. Now playing Shadows version. It is a film noir version of the original Telltale games. Black and white but also with some thoughtful use of color (Batman’s wounds and cuts for example stand out while playing for me… as do the tech gadgets)
(Footage from Nintendo Switch OLED… I am playing it on that rather than the Nintendo Switch 2 because of the richer blacks imo on the screen… maybe it means nothing but I THINK it looks better)
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm
Nicolas Cage says he suggested shooting ‘SPIDER-NOIR’ in color because “teenagers don’t have much experience with black & white.” “The dream is they watch it in color and then check it out in black & white, learn something and go ‘hey I wanna see some of these movie references.’ And then they just open a treasure trove of great American cinema.”

@Yankees What whiplash this Yankees season feels like.

@craigzLiszt Amazon Prime…. Not exactly a product, more of a service, but still applies in my view.

1) good stuff Nikita
2) there’s still room for improvement in areas that are not all self serving. For example: search recs. Not sure what’s going on here, but if I follow Jarvis, he follows me, and I regularly go to his profile (which X can track)… why is he so far down?
Shouldn’t he be near the top of my search results?
Half these Jarvises are literally unverified as well!
