Being “sad/upset” about going back to school doesn’t mean you don’t love your job or want to work, it’s just you’ve enjoyed your time with your family/pets/bed a lot!!

Shoutout to everyone who's headspace will dip in the next 24h with dread about having to function as a proper human, concerned of the whereabouts of their lanyard, ability to teach, if the trousers will fit, and generally being around people. All whilst excited for routine again.

I hope everyone has a good first day back. Remember… ✨it’s just a job ✨the children are excited to see you ✨teacher is the most fulfilling job if you let it be ❤️

The 50ish woman in front of me in Sainsburys with a school ID round her neck just bought 4 cream cakes on offer, a family bag of Walkers sensation crisps, a bottle of Malbec and some herbal sleep remedy. I never related to anyone more in my life.

First half term done in my new school. Safe to say, there’s been some challenges but I love how different it is💙

Something I find surprising is how little curiosity I see on here about the motivation behind children's behaviours. The focus seems to be on 'what to do as a consequence' rather than on 'why are they doing it in the first place?'.

You guys. We passed this couple in the cemetery today. They were putting these flowers on every grave. When I asked if this were a Memorial Day gesture, she said, "No, we just got married and we wanted to do something meaningful with the flowers left over from our wedding." ❤️!

Shoutout to all those teachers who left school overwhelmed with the prospect of having to be a fully fledged adult again, only to spend their evening horizontal doom scrolling or binge watching Netflix like they don’t have to enrich small minds tomorrow

@TeachGems I have 26 to begin but we have a massive waiting list for the school so I’ve been told that within 2 weeks, it’ll go back up to 32😭

Really pleased with my classroom set up. I’ve only got 22 pupils as we have low numbers in years 4 and 5, so I’m going to make the most of the extra attention I can give each child. Feel very lucky. Excited but not looking forward to life going back to 150mph again very soon…

@MrsKS1teacher @MissD_Y6 I do that too💙 we did it on transition day and they’re all so excited to have a card. Can I ask what you do for children that had their birthday during summer holidays??xx

@MissD_Y6 I do it as a day one activity. All the children make a birthday card, then they go sign their names on them all. Pop them all in an envelope and each child gets one on their birthday. My TA and I make a few extra, just in case new children join the class 😊

Teachers who do birthday cards for their class - card factory currently have 10 for £1 rather than 5 for £1😜

@missbprimary__ Me🙋🏽‍♀️ the guilt is setting in but I’m trying to not let it. We deserve this break!! I will do some planning this weekend and sorting classroom next week ready to start on Friday😫😫

@MissBeard97 Haha, i live & work in Kuwait.. which very luckily is tax free & my school pay for my rent and bills!

Lucky enough to have visited 7 countries during this summer holiday. Now time for the 15 hour flight back from Bali ready for my 3rd year of international teaching in 🇰🇼
