@tra_hall You’re identifying anecdotal instances. Those kids would likely also be among the proficient if attending public school (unless they have conditions mom is able to accommodate better at home - in which case the answer is funding/attitude). Lots of homeschooling goes poorly.

Key to remember- it’s not malicious. Maliciousness requires semblance of emotion. Insurers are giant, emotionless, bureaucracies. Issue here is bureaucracy. The wrong form was submitted, wrong approval sought, cancer was coded as X, calling for A treatment, when it’s really Y, calling for B treatment.

This American has Stage 4 cancer and there is no cure She has insurance but she just received a letter from her health insurance that they are not covering her treatment “One chemo session costs $15,000” “My doctor confirmed that I got approval from my insurance company before I started the chemo. I've been on it for a few months now — The insurance company suddenly decided that they're not going to cover the treatments anymore” She has to get this $15,000 treatment “once every 3 weeks” “Honestly, this letter feels like a threat.
