@bittrfridgetrol @TashaKheiriddin @wickdchiq I have to disagree that genocide is ongoing. Why is there reconciliation? Why are millions of taxpayer dollars going to reservations? Why isn’t there anymore transparency? Aboriginal languages are now taught in post secondary and being documented so they don’t fade away.

Canada is such a terrible place, says @wickdchiq As opposed to autocracies like China, Russia and Iran, where the internet is censored, demonstrators killed, and minorities interned in labour camps? Taking democracy for granted is the first step to losing it. Lest we forget.

Yesterday, October 24, I was suspended as a Board Member from @CJPME. This organization, which is led by two white men @thomaswoodley1 & @mbueckert presents itself as the largest Palestine solidarity group in "Canada" while silencing & punishing dissenting Palestinian voices. 1/

I watched my youngest daughter coloring her book, then I watched these children in Gaza writing their names on their arms so they can be identified in case they die in the next Israeli airstrike. I wept. Something about seeing the stolen humanity of these Palestinian children before they’re blown to pieces. Cruel and inhumane. Repost from @trtworld

Notice how many videos coming out of Palestine are a holding spot for stories in English. Who do they want to bear witness of their story, in the event they will be killed? Why is it in that language?

The challenge with equity in education is that we are trying to create equitable spaces using the same infrastructure, same number of staff to support student needs, while navigating social media slander, gaslighting and resistance. Those doing the work, take care of yourselves.

48 hours ago, police arrived at our house to inform our family that my father was struck by a driver while riding his bike on the QEW. He is in critical condition. These photos are the result of someone’s negligence. I show this in the hopes that no other family EVER has to see their parent in this condition. What you don’t see, are the endless tears, and heartache by all of his friends and family. I’m trying so hard to keep myself together. 48 hours taught me more about being a man, than 28 years of my life ever could. The initial shock was unreal. My mother collapsed at the door in my arms as she heard the news. I went from feeling the daunting reality of potentially being fatherless to understanding in a split second that stepping up for my family and for my father is the only thing I can do. He’d want us to be strong as a family, and pray together for him. I’d like to extend a request for prayers to anyone reading this. My father is in the ICU fighting for his life as I write this. We want nothing more than for him to come home and be better than ever. Allah is the only one who can cure, and your prayers are so appreciated. When you are driving, PLEASE be mindful of others, especially in the summer when bikers are out. One individual’s negligence has shocked our family FOREVER. Please. Use your discretion. Double check your blind spot, and give cycles space. No one should have to go through what we are right now.

When somebody says, "We have to meet people where they are," an important question is, WHICH people? Who are you prioritizing? How would our antiracist efforts change if me met people experiencing racism and demanding justice where THEY are, and used that as our starting point?

There's a time to call in. But there's also a time to call out. When we shame people who opt for calling out--especially people who have been marginalized--then what we're doing is weaponizing "calling in" to protect the interests of power and injustice.

Constant attack on teaching and nursing - both historically female dominant fields. I wonder why other public sector jobs don’t face the same scrutiny? The comments on this perpetuate misogyny, and under value the education and emotional labour required @birgitomo @ETFOeducators

This stabbing is an act of targeted violence. It’s is an escalation of the unaddressed climate of violence targeting women and children, LGBTQ communities, and anti-racist equity initiatives at our public school board.
