@MissGWilsonPE Yes! We did a few years back. We selected girls to be a part of it (mainly top performers) - ran a club weekly for them so they had opportunity to play competitively each week in a variety of sports. We also took them on a trip each term to elite female fixtures. They loved it!

Has anyone ever launched a ‘this girl can’ initiative and had success? Would love to hear from you if you have? 😀

@MissBullPE Thank you! So I did a student voice last year! I like the idea of selecting enthusiastic girls to help get the ball rolling. What kind of activities do you offer? Is it just for after school? Xx

@MissGWilsonPE Yes! And in the process of setting a new one up this academic year with the aim to increase female participation. We do this by selecting girls sport leaders (any enthusiastic girls, in any year) and begin with a student voice of understanding what girls want at the school! (1/2)

As a young girl that couldn’t play football due to a lack of teams because ‘girls don’t play football’. Today is a showcase of how far the game has come. It’s not just about the squad it’s about everyone behind the scenes, everyone involved from grass roots up. Let’s do this! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
