Today was launch day for a project I took part in that aims to help improve understanding of autism in educational settings. In the words of one of the young actors, ‘it means the world when people understand.’ #taketimetoallowtime @tripleaproject @NHSCumbriaCCG @cockermouthsch
NHSNorthCumbria@NHSNorthCumbria

The great film #taketimetoallowtime was launched in #Cumbria earlier today to support autism awareness in schools @tripleaproject @Peoplefirst111 @Blencathra21 @annastabler1 youtu.be/YKnmIEMxkhs The film also has a companion eBook at: tripleaproject.org.uk/media/

The 26th December marks the Manx tradition of Shelg yn Drean - The Hunting of the Wren. The captured wren is symbolically caged atop a decorated pole. As in the traditional song, Robin the Bobbin was the first to arrive to mark the day. #huntthewren #boxingday #manx #tradition

@Bowtie_pedagogy @Team_English1 We use them every lesson and have done so for years. This has narrowed down where they can be used effectively and where not. Happy to share ideas around this if needed.

I would love to pick the brains of someone who uses MWBs really well in English. I would love to know what types of responses you use them to gather and how you build those questions in. @Team_English1

I'm going to see a classic British film tonight about two young, well-adjusted actors having a mini-break in the Lake District. They happen to stay at Sleddale Hall on the Shap postal route 😉

@RobGMacfarlane If you can wait a few days, I can elaborate. :) The 90’s was when I was studying mythology/ folklore for my degree.

@RobGMacfarlane Wish I was at home to consult the shelves and provide a more specific response. From what I can recall, many texts had images that remind me of artists like Rackham. Fonts were restrained, classic in style. Colourwise, muted colours but not always from a restricted palate.

@RobGMacfarlane Thanks for sharing this. I’m not up to getting up there myself at the moment. I’m grounded in the next valley.

@Mat_at_Brookes That’s quite a statement piece. Reminds me a tad of Marley crossed with the Green Man via the Dorset Ooser.

I think of "Hwæt!" (the opening word of "Beowulf") as the first word of English literature. Scholars write articles on what it might mean. If you were translating "Beowulf," how would you capture "Hwæt!" in our English?

@oldandrewuk A request to fill in a form embedded into the email. Except the form is not interactive and you have to make a new one before you can complete/return it.

@HaleDonal Great stuff. Ongoing monitoring and decisions about the nexts steps for each student will be key to maintaining/building on this progress. I implemented a whole school/intervention for literacy over two years ago. The gains are not maintained without ongoing support.

the results of our latest phonics screening check. 6 months since our intervention began, 99% of our students in Y7 - 9 have closed all phonics gaps, and the impact has been profound. Not just in terms of reading ability, but confidence levels, too! It's a joy to see! 💜🌟 /3

At @TrinityAcademyL, many students arrive with a reading age well below their chronological age. For lots (though, not all) of these students they arrive at secondary school unable to fluently and accurately decode. This is their reading barrier, which needs to be /1

@RobGMacfarlane It’s certainly something I always ask my students to do. Ideally, the cadence and rhythm of the piece should come alive and you can hear the ‘voice’. As you say, it’s also great for spotting errors that the eye skips over.
