@MissRLittle @Brayden07339463 Students can get a better hands-on learning experience through outdoor learning. For my professional placements, I have seen the difference in engagement when having a lesson outside compared to inside.

@Brayden07339463 I really like this idea of outdoor learning. Not only is it therapeutic to be in nature, but it definitely forces us to consider our impact on the world. Great connects to #sdg12 too!

@HelenaEcimovic @BronteDavis3 I agree! Within my unit, there is a big community project in which I have decided that critical and creative thinking is one of the best suited general capabilities for the students.

I will be focusing on Critical and Creative Thinking and Literacy when learning about #SDG14 and #Sustainability. I believe with these capabilities in action, students are encouraged to think creatively about appropriate courses of action. #SDG14 #UoNTeach

Bunnings is a resourceful place for schools to use initiative and create things such as garden beds for students. Bunnings will supply materials so that this can be started and hands on learning can be achieved. #educ4750 #UoNTeach bunnings.com.au/?gclid=CjwKCAj…

@Tull1Amy @Rebekah18336751 This idea could even be used as a fundraiser at the school. For example the Year 6 formal. Thye could set up a system throughout the year and raise money for their events.

@Rebekah18336751 Such a fun way for students to understand the whole process of recycling and how it works! They are helping save the planet and getting some pocket money at the same time.

"Meaningful learning experiences transform space into place and help children develop a sense of place and identity" (Dolan, 2016). The attached document highlights how outdoor learning can help to create these meaningful learning experiences. #UoNTeach #educ4750

How cool would it be to have an art show planned to include all local schools! The theme would be recycling and all schools would be able to create artworks out of recycled goods and then placed them on display for the community to see! #UoNTeach #educ4750
Reaghan Ghys@ReaghanGhys

What a great creative arts activity, I will be incorporating artwork like this into my #educ4750 unit! Students can utilise recycled materials and collaboratively create the artwork. Will you be incorporating creative arts into your unit plan? If so, how? #UoNTeach

@Mitchel48981334 My unit is placing a big importance on recycling and how this simple task can create a butterfly effect on saving our waters. I think is also important for students to learn why the oceans are important to us and our survival.

When teaching elements of #SDG14, what do you think is the most important element for students to learn? Would like to know so I can make sure these elements are included in my unit. #EDUC4750 #UonTeach

@ReaghanGhys This could lead to either a class debate, one side is proposing the ideas and the other side is the government. Or could lead to a persuasive writing lesson.

What a great teaching opportunity! Students could collaborate to create a plan in class with their peers and approach the local city council with their ideas of how to clean up our local beaches! I will be incorporating tasks like this into my unit plan. #UoNTeach #educ4750

💡 If your class could present a proposal to your local government with ideas on how to clean up or maintain local rivers or oceans what would be your first suggestion? teachersfirst.com/xw1w.cfm #XW1W-M #MiddleSchool #SocialStudies #SDG14

@MrHansen96 @ACARAeduau critical and creative thinking is one of my general capabilities, this format makes it a lot easier to identify where my students will need to be aiming and can help create success criteria through the unit of work. thanks for sharing!

My unit of work will include an integration of science. The approach to science will be hands-on and engaging to students as this strongly links with play-based learning. If you want to learn more about hands on science just follow this article: fun-a-day.com/the-importance… #UoNTeach

In my unit of work students will work together to create a recycling system within the school, through this they can then integrate a unit of art and create artworks from recycled materials to be displayed at a local art show #UoNTeach #educ2750 #educ4750

I’m tweeting “♻️REDUCE WASTE!♻️” because yes, it’s important but I needed to give examples of how to do so! They need pictures not just words - so here are some simple everyday practices we can change to help reduce waste. #educ4750 #sdg12 #UoNTeach

This could lead to students practising persuasive writing within the classroom. Could even lead to a group activity in which they create a persuasive letter together to send to Nestle. #UoNTeach #SDG14 #educ475

@coast4c helps local fishing communities in the Philippines learn how to farm and sell seaweed; a vital ingredient in food and cosmetics as well as bioplastics. This helps them become more resilient to climate change, restore the marine ecosystem and lock carbon in the ocean.
