Early this morning, we learned the tragic news of another Christian County deputy killed overnight in pursuit of the criminal who took the life of Deputy Gabriel Ramirez. I am grateful for the collaboration between local law enforcement officers, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and federal partners in taking down the perpetrator. This terrible tragedy is yet another solemn reminder of the sacrifices law enforcement officers make to keep our communities safe. Claudia and I are keeping the families of both deputies who were killed, those officers injured, and the entire Southwest Missouri law enforcement community in our prayers.

We are deeply grateful for their service, sacrifice, and commitment, and for the families who stand behind them. Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful, and joyful Christmas.

Missouri is proud of its veterans. We remember your sacrifice, salute your service, and carry forward the legacy of courage that defines you.

To our brothers and sisters in law enforcement who have also served in the Armed Forces, we thank you for continuing to answer the call, protecting our country abroad and our communities here at home.

Across Missouri and across America, we honor the brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform and defended the freedoms we hold dear.

Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to protecting others will never be forgotten. We stand with their families, their agencies, and the communities they served with honor.

This week has been a painful reminder of the risks our first responders face every day. In Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we lost heroes who answered the call to serve. A deputy, a police officer, and a LifeFlight crew member each gave their lives in the line of duty.

In Wildwood, Missouri, quick-thinking police officers came to the aid of an elderly woman who was unaware of a fire at a nearby home on Monday morning. Officers acted swiftly, safely evacuating her from her residence and away from danger. Please keep the 5 officers shot in York County (PA) this afternoon in your thoughts and prayers. Several are in critical condition. The brave officers were serving a warrant when the dirtbag opened fire on them. It appears he then neutralized himself…permanently. This horrific tragedy is a stark reminder of the War on Cops in this country and the dangers we face everyday we put on the uniform.

Across the Show-Me State, women in law enforcement lead with courage, compassion, and professionalism.   On National Police Woman Day, we are proud to honor the women who wear the badge, protect our communities, and inspire the next generation of officers.

We honor the first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and everyday citizens whose courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We also stand with the families and communities forever impacted by that day, holding them in our hearts.

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. We remember the innocent lives lost and the heroes who ran toward danger to save others.

There have been 9 police officers shot in the last 6 days…3 are dead. Please keep the latest officer shot from Indy PD in your thoughts and prayers. Thankfully the officer is in stable condition and expected to recover. One dirtbag who shot the officer was neutralized on scene…permanently. Other miscreant is in custody. The War on Cops rages on…we should be embarrassed as a nation that this continues on our soil. Hey Congress…wake up and pass the “Protect and Serve Act”.

Our hearts go out to Deputy Elijah Ming, his loved ones, and the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. Ming was killed in the line of duty Saturday, trying to serve and protect others. We ache for Ming and those close to him, and send our condolences.
