The new Claude 3.5 Sonnet is one of the best models I've ever used. We listened to the feedback on the old 3.5 Sonnet and worked to improve the new model in a number of ways. Here are some of my favorite improvements:

Hamas has given initial approval for a US-backed proposal for a phased truce and hostage exchange deal in Gaza, dropping a key demand that Israel give an up-front commitment for a complete end to the war. Hamas is now seeking “written guarantees” from mediators that Israel will continue to negotiate a permanent ceasefire deal once the first phase of a ceasefire goes into effect.

Hi @dansenor can you pls post link to Rachel Goldberg speech played in recent episode? For those of us that 240 days into our 2nd (more meaningful) Hebrew school, her speech is a masterful teaching of Jewish values that, at least for me, brought clarity to the trade-offs you and @havivrettiggur spoke of a few weeks ago.

.@ShaiDavidai mentioned on @dansenor's pod that Columbia SJP, after not posting since May, ominously posted on Oct. 6th, "We are Back". The date of the post is Oct 5th, 24 hours before the Oct. 7th attack. The Arabic reads "Revolution Until Victory".

Check out something interesting: An Instagram post by ׳Students for Justice in Palestine׳ at @Columbia The image features an Arabic text that reads: "Revolution until victory” and “we are back” with the map of Israel in the background. In the post itself, they announce: "We are back!." Now, check out the date of the post at the bottom. Coincidence?

The Four Musketeers continue to fumble on Israel. No one is capable of keeping Sacks in check. 1. The civilian to combat casualty ratio is 1:15:1. Every loss of life is a tragedy. But Israel is fighting a defensive war against an enemy that doesn’t wear uniforms and hides behind their citizens. Military leaders, including West Point, universally agree that the commitment to human life and technology shows in these numbers. 2) Israel’s objective is to eliminate Hamas battalion infrastructure so they are not capable of waging another October 7th. 3) A very small part of the protest movement is in favor of a two state solution. The vast majority are organized, funded, and executed by SJP and AMP which are organizations with terrorist ties that are fighting for an Islamic state in place of an Israeli democracy. We all want less war. Less military complex. But, we can’t achieve that without creating a new dynamic in the Middle East. Supporting protestors who support Hamas contradicts that goal.

Is Gaza becoming Israel's "Vietnam Moment"? ... and if so, will protestors be vindicated in the fullness of time? @DavidSacks laid out his case, describing some notable similarities between the two wars: 1) In terms of "destroying Hamas," the war is unwinnable -- Israel faces a guerrilla-style force that keeps popping back up after the IDF clears an area -- the @WSJ noted that Israel is "winning every battle, but losing the war" 2) Huge number of civilian casualties from what @POTUS called "indiscriminate bombing" 3) Rules of engagement have loosened 4) There has been a dehumanization of civilians in Gaza

If he was a truly great leader he could say - we are at a crossroads between ancient and modern cultures. The Jewish people have made Israel into a miraculous country. Hamas and all other groups like them do not deserve support of people who believe in equal rights. Progressive voices should stand against bigotry in the United States, Israel and everywhere it exists without conflating it with the horrors being perpetrated by terrorists groups that stand for levels of bigotry that progressives can’t even fathom.

Tonight, Jewish families around the world will begin the celebration of Passover with the traditional seder meal. Michelle and I loved the seders we held in the White House, and the story of Passover – with its focus on resilience, redemption, and renewal in the face of persecution and uncertainty. Today it rings even more true. This Passover, let’s remember everyone who is unable to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones. And in a time when there’s been so much suffering and loss in Israel and Gaza, let’s reaffirm our commitment to the Jewish people, and people of all religions, who deserve to feel safe and secure wherever they live and practice their faith. Chag Sameach.

.@lexfridman help us understand the rules of the road of your platform. For all of us who listen to your long form interviews we hope that you will ask hard questions of important people and create a source of needed clarity. My assumption: 1) you “do the work” before speaking with the guest, 2) your goal is to let the conversation unfold, 3) you aim to maintain intellectual honesty above all else. What obligation do you believe you have to balance presenting opposing views and platforming propaganda? In your Suleiman interview you allowed readily debunked statements unchecked. You conducted a 2hr. discussion without exploring the gap between Suleiman’s statements and the easily accessible, hard evidence that contradict them. I thought “maybe I’ve missed something here” and had to re-read primary sources, like the Hamas charter that plainly states death to all Jews is the Palestinian objective. Well presented opposing views and a strong morale compass can save lives. You did not bring either to your interview with Suleiman. Love you all ❤️‍🩹

I'm hosting a 2v2 debate on Israel-Palestine in ~2 weeks, in-person, for many hours. The people involved are: Palestine: Norm Finkelstein, Mouin Rabbani Israel: Benny Morris, Steven Bonnell (Destiny) The goal is to make it a deep, respectful exploration of ideas, history, geopolitics, religion, incentives, and solutions for the path forward. If you have questions/topic suggestions please let me know. I expect to get a lot of criticism. I understand. I will work hard to do this well. Love you all ❤

The key art for the best-animated movie at #GoldenGlobes is blatently antisemitic. The animator chose textbook antisemitic design tropes for the crooked character - by the looks of it the character is even given hooves. The @StudioGhibliSc didn't catch it, @GKIDSfilms made it the key art, @TIFF_NET (Toronto Intl Film Festival) didn't notice it, and the @GoldenGlobes didn't consider it a problem. It is a WWII story that won the Golden Globe three months after Oct. 7th

Jews are the indigenous population of the land today called Israel. The Hebrews first claimed the land of Israel about 1300 BCE, living as 12 tribes until being united into one under King Saul. King David, the second king, established Jerusalem as the capital around 1000 BCE. ✡ The City of David can be explored today. @cityofdavid. David’s son, King Solomon, built the First Temple for the Jews in 957 BCE. The Second Temple was constructed in 515 BCE. A wall of this temple remains today. Then, the kingdom was divided into two. The northern kingdom (Israel) lasted until 722 BCE when the Assyrians destroyed it. The southern kingdom (Judah) was taken over by the Babylonian conquest in 586 BCE. Israelites or Judeans or Jews or Hebrews -- all words describing the same group of natives -- maintained a presence in their homeland throughout the diaspora. Then, in the 1800s, the Jews in the Disapora started a movement to return to their homeland -- Zionism. For comparison, the Muslims' Al-Aqsa Mosque was built during the Arabic caliphate's colonization and Islamification of the land, on top of the Second Temple, in 691 CE--which was over 1,600 years after the Jews first built their temple. The reason that the Islamic mosque was built directly on top of the Jewish Second Temple was a symbol of the Islamic conquest of the region and its colonization of Jewish culture. While Jews are the indigenous natives of the land, the Arabs are the colonizers of that land. Calling Jews "colonizers" is not just wrong it's historically illiterate. jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/images… britannica.com/topic/Temple-o… ir.library.louisville.edu/cgi/viewconten…

There is a US corporation that has a $50B balance sheet, generates a 10% ROIC (~$5B of income per year) but has also convinced the US Government that: a) it shouldn’t pay taxes and should be treated as a non profit b) despite making billions more than necessary to cover costs, only spends the government mandated non-profit minimum of what it makes every year, creating an artificial $1.5B deficit c) then asks the US government for help and gets $1.5B of taxpayer dollars every year to cover the gap that they could cover by themselves but chooses not to d) while getting government funding, has been accused and found guilty by tue Supreme Court of systemic racial discrimination towards minority groups This corporation is called the Harvard Corporation.

muslim and arab (especially palestinian) colleagues in the tech community i've spoken with feel uncomfortable speaking about their recent experiences, often out of fear of retaliation and damaged career prospects. our industry should be united in our support of these colleagues; it is an atrocious time. i continue to hope for a real and lasting peace, and that in the meantime we can treat each other with empathy.
