Someone built an AI model so small it runs on your phone. This is MiniCPM-5 1B, and it was written entirely by AI

@garrytan That might reduce as we go on, when the one having a problem can actually solve it.

Exactly right. The bottleneck has never been compute or capital. Its taste and judgment about what humans actually want. Infinite compute just makes the great founders faster and the confused ones more confused. x.com/dflieb/status/…
David Lieb@dflieb

Thought experiment: if every company suddenly had infinite free compute, what new products would emerge? My take: with very few exceptions, not much would change. The bottleneck is figuring out what people want, and it’s not so easy to apply compute to solve that.

@joinshiftX Well when you do the same thing in the background like what meta and google does with ads it's adding some value without me paying for the service, now when I know you're recording consciously I'm concerned about my privacy without the trust of how it's handled

Today, we're launching shift. We're starting by cleaning your apartment in New York City, for free. Here's how it works. Book a shift cleaning. A vetted shift operator comes to your home wearing one of our devices. They clean. They leave. You pay nothing. In exchange, we record the cleaning. Robotics is being built on data about how people do daily tasks, and the value of that recording is what funds the service. Anything personal in it is anonymized before the recording is processed. By now, you have heard about the shift to AI more times than you can count. About the shift toward you, the part where you actually feel it, you have heard almost nothing. Shift is what starts to make it concrete, in specific cities, with specific services. Today, cleaning in New York. Soon, handymen, repairs, and errands across the globe. And this is just one side of shift, with more on the way. Comment “shift” and we’ll send you an early access link.

I don’t think most people actually want to choose between AI models. Every week there’s new consensus on what’s best, but most people just want great results, and they don’t care which model powers that. At Lovable, we spend a lot of time evaluating models internally so our users don’t have to. The goal is simple: automatically use the best model for the task so people can stay focused on building their business. Don't underestimate how important it is to remove mental load for your customers at every step of the way.

The industry has gone completely nuts. Use tokens to generate AI code and documentation slop. Then use even more tokens to understand and review that slop. Then judge engineers by token usage instead of how empathetic and clear their docs and code actually are, and completely neglect human comprehension. Utter nonsense.

We've raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation, led by @AltimeterCap, Dragoneer, @Greenoaks, and @sequoia. This investment will help us advance our research and expand our capacity to meet growing demand for Claude.

The best thing about building a b2c project is how fast the feedback loops are, you gotta an idea -> build in next hr -> push it to top users -> feedback by night. None of heavy discussions for - will this work? Just build and deploy - if they like deploy for all or nevermind.

AI should dramatically increase quality of life and individual freedoms for people around the world. The OpenAI Foundation is making an initial $250M commitment to measurement, transition support, and new approaches to broadly shared prosperity. openaifoundation.org/news/economic-…

Hearing people on TikTok, X and YouTube Shorts speculate about how “X% of companies haven’t seen profitability gains from AI yet” feels like hearing some business owner in 1886 say: “Yeah, we tried one of those motor carriages, but frankly, we haven’t seen much advantage over a good horse and a sturdy wagon.” WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP

2 years ago, i earned my first income through instagram, 800 rupees the client had dm'd me saying he wanted a digital portrait of him and his girlfriend for her birthday. we went back and forth maybe five times on feedback and every time he just said "this is good, this is good" until it was done. that evening I walked to the local shop near my place and ordered chicken momos for ₹80. sat there eating them knowing that money was my own, came from a complete stranger who had chosen me ( the feeling was unmatched) i think the first rupee you earn yourself does something to your brain that no salary, no funding, no milestone can replicate. it gives you the confidence to trust yourself :) ps- those momos tasted like heaven ( i cant put it into words )

Thanks for all of the Antigravity feedback over the last couple of days, especially around the IDE. Our intention was never to remove the IDE support for developers, and we should have been clearer with that in the product from the beginning. We’ve made it clearer in 2.0 on how to connect to the IDE, fixed issues with opening the IDE on Windows machines, provided instructions to restore IDE settings & extensions, and more. New releases for the Antigravity IDE and Antigravity 2.0 have rolled out with these changes. We should have done better so we’re going to reset everyone’s Gemini quota for the week again.
