Sir/Ma'am, Here is the math: Cow milk: ~0.3-0.5 micro g B12/100 ml 1 glass (200 ml) = ~0.6-1 micro g 500 ml (2-2.5 glasses) = ~1.5-2.5 micro g To reliably hit the RDA (2.4 micro g/day), we need ~500-800 ml of milk daily. Curd (homemade, from cow milk): Similar to milk, ~0.3-0.6 micro g/100 g Even 300-400 g/day rarely covers the full RDA alone. Paneer (fresh, from cow milk): ~0.2-0.4 micro g/100 g we need 600-1200 g/day to meet RDA

We are a tropical country, yet ~70-90% of us are Vitamin D deficient. Reason is not just about staying indoors, It is about Melanin & Latitudinal Adaptation. Melanin is a natural sunscreen. In the deep tropics, high melanin was an evolutionary advantage to prevent skin cancer. Problem with Melanin is that it is too good at its job. It blocks the UV-B rays required to synthesize Vitamin D. An Indian person needs 3-5x more sun exposure than a fair-skinned European to produce the same amount of Vitamin D. Cos of modern clothing & the shadow of urban pollution (which filters out UV-B), an Indian living in a city like Del/Blr can stand in the sun for an hour & still produce almost zero Vitamin D. Vitamin B12 is produced only by bacteria, not plants. Historically, We did not have a B12 problem cos of dirty water (please do not get offended) & organic farming. During old times, B12 came from the trace soil & unsterilized water on vegetables. As India became cleaner (using RO water filters & pesticides that kill soil bacteria), the natural source of B12 was sanitized out of the food chain. Most of us are functionally vegetarian but B12 starved cos our modern hygiene has outpaced our dietary supplementation.
Pallavi Pandey@pallavipandeyy

Indians can achieve anything in this world except Vitamin-D and Vitamin-B12 sufficiency.

@prakash_pov True. And Kalinga fleets were doing this too. In India we often forget the influence of Kalinga on all of South East Asia. Just look at Bali's dance form and Hinduism to understand. Or how Sri Lanka is more closer to Odiya culture than Tamil.

Some of those who support BJP here on X think it is alright to indulge in occasional abuse of Brahmins and a few other GC castes overtly and covertly. This is because these folks truly believe in the Oppressor-Oppressed narrative. Like totally. Oppressor abuse is deemed alright in their cult. They have no filters when it comes to abusing safe targets (usually Brahmins but other approved safe targets exist too). Anyway this has been par for the course for so long now. Only glimmer of hope is the sheer # of people who said enough is enough and fought against this UGC regulation. A few present and past elected leaders from BJP have spoken even during the outrage cycle. Some wrote letters to NaMo too. I respect that contingent. Few are speaking up now which is okay. Other folks can be ignored I guess. They need some cooling time to process the fact that a good bunch of Hindus are fed up with Oppressor-Oppressed framing.
Nupur J Sharma@UnSubtleDesi

BJP MPs who kept mum earlier, but are now hailing the SC verdict staying UGC guidelines can be mocked as hypocrites, but at least not by those who cracked 'bastard brahmin' jokes, their besties and those who platform them. Moral courage should start at home.

@Dontofollo25885 Nothing happens. China, UK, Japan, India are not going to point nukes at the US demanding payment. Most US debt is held by their own people, they can manage all that. Economics and finance we are taught and understand are US created pseudoscience - let's first understand that.

“Yeh Kapil Dev nahi hai!!” This fun yet important Sanskrit lesson explains why Kapil Dev and Kapila–Deva are completely different — thanks to one crucial symbol: the halant (्). In Sanskrit, the halant (्) is extremely important. If the halant isn’t written, the word does not end suddenly. So Kapila–Deva is written with a halant… and Kapil Dev — the cricketer — is a totally different fellow! 🏏 Just like: ❌ “shabad” (Hindi usage) ✔️ śabda (Sanskrit) ❌ “dhanyavaad” ✔️ dhanyavādaḥ And yes — many South Indian languages actually preserve closer Sanskrit pronunciation than modern Hindi. So meri kṛpā kar ke (not kripya karke) vinatī hai — 👉 Don’t mix Hindi pronunciation with Sanskrit spelling. Samajh rahe ho mere Rām ke dīwāno? Comment dhanyavādaḥ below if you agree! 📲 Share this with your Sanskrit-loving friends. #Sanskrit #SanskritPronunciation #Halant #VedicWisdom #LanguageOfTheGods #TheSanskritChannel #SanskritLearning #SanskritHindiDifference #IndicLanguages #SanatanDharma #SanskritTips

My village is located near the first temple in Srikakulam. It is not built in Dravidian architecture because it was built by Odias, not South Indians. It is Andhra now but still surrounded by Odia villages. Although we speak Telugu, we are Odias.
తెలుగువారు@Telugu_Heritage

The Andhra Kalinga region once flourished with temples like Mukhalingam, Arasavalli, Srikurmam, showcasing tall curving rekha deuls and rich carvings of Kalinga art. Yet today, Dravidian architecture spreads across Andhra, slowly overshadowing this unique Kalinga legacy.

Odia traditions are unique in many ways. Today, alongside Deepavali, we also observe Paya Sradha, a ritual to honor and remember our ancestors. 🙏 While many observe it at home with family, devotees throng Puri (near Jagannath Temple) and Bhubaneswar (near Bindu Sagar) to perform the Paya Sraddha(ପୟାଶ୍ରାଦ୍ଧ) rituals at these sacred spots. #Deepavali2025

After the Mahabharata war, the progeny of Pandavas continued ruling Hastinapura for a very, very long time. Until, it is said, the time of "the floods" when Hastinapura was consumed by it. This made the king then, and his subjects, relocate their capital to Kaushambi. All this we know through our puranas. Fast forward through another very long time. That is after India's independence. Indian archealogists, while digging through Hastinapura, discovered that indeed a big flood had consumed it some 2800 years ago. And signs of any active population in Hastinapura suspend around that time. They also discovered a certain kind of pottery of painted grey ware used in Hastinapura before that. Fast forward another few decades. Indian archealogists again find similar pottery in Kaushambi as they dig. But surprise, Kaushambi seems to have been settled only around 2800 years ago. There were no such grey ware pottery found before that in the dig. Both the puranas mentioning this event of capital relocation are also dated some 2200-2600 years ago. But they are recording in a continuum events that happened much prior. What this tells us is our puranas have been recording actual events in Indian history. May be there are some corruptions as they were orally transmitted and re-recorded as they were passed on. The events of the flood in Hastinapura, the relocation of a population to Kaushambi, and the same pottery found in Hastinapura, which ends 2800 years ago, suddenly starting to appear in Kaushambi all tell an interesting account of history. That is why puranas come under a corpus of text in Indian knowledge system called "Itihasa" perhaps.
